this model and its bigger brother have always looked a little strange to me, just a little oddball shape.

no doubt they sound good tho I havnt met an ADS yet that doesnt.

I'd buy them if it was closer, except that I just bought a pair of 1290's a couple weeks ago so im broke;/

how do you like the 1290's, I'm looking at a pair now.

The 1290 are great (have 2 pairs). If you can get them or the 1090. IF you ever come across a pair of 1590 make sure you snag them, as those are VERY rare. The rosewood is like the unicorn.
As far as the 1230 - whoever can get them please do before I get them. I sold my 910 and 1530 a few months ago to allow my LR become more civilized. Getting the 1230 would make my wife flip!

If she tolerated 1530s she should be able to handle 1230s.
