ADS L1290 on CT CL

I doubt they were mine - they were sold to someone in Boston and ADS speakers with missing grills have to prevalent, especially since they tend to fall off easily.
$225 is a good deal though assuming they work properly.

IF these work properly and have no major cosmetic issues this is a steal. The only reason tehy are not in my house because I have 2 pairs already...

It's a very good price but..... grilles are a seller's market. Expect to pay $50 each & up, mostly up if you can find even one. The speakers had a nasty tendency to fall forward when placed on deep-pad 80's carpeting. That got them the in-house nickname of "kid killers". (That never happened, just black humor.) When they fell the grilles were destroyed as sometimes were the domes so those should be inspected carefully. Hard to tell from the lo-rez images but the midrange domes look a bit hinky to me. The ones in the link are Series 1 w/ PA1 cutouts and I would bet the covers for those are missing too. That isn't a huge deal though. Here's the images for posterity -

I don't think it would be very hard to replicate the metal grills or for that matter make something with a wooden frame and cloth that would be more transparent.
I, like many of us here do not "need" more speakers. Not that that has been an issue in the past!

I have a set of 1090s I got for $75 locally wth grilles, but a few pegs missing. IMO that`s the only shortcoming of those speakers.

Just out of curiosity do you happen to know how long the L1290/2's were made with the back cavity, before they went to the bottom-mounted cable connections?

(I ran across a pair of L1290/2's in a pawn shop a couple weeks ago that have the back cavities--was sure they were the original 1290s until I got them home and opened the back panel to find they were /2's)
