ADS L1530 in Florida

Once upon a time their little brothers (L1230) were my "dream speakers". Ironically, although they have a different tonal signature, I have Aerials which were created by the same (co-?)designer (Michael Kelly).

Never heard the 1530's but everything I've read suggests $400 is a great price. I'd grab them if I was in Florida.

Damn that sounds like a good deal. I have always wanted some big ADS. They are 5 hours from me though.

these are amazing speakers.

Amazing or not, but if I bring them home, I will be living with these huge black boxes on back yard, and I doubt they give me extension cord to enjoy them.

Amazing is how great speakers could be made so ugly. Good luck if you are married. But even if bachelor, look is first and they are not tasteful to me.

This applies not only to speakers.

I don't find them to be ugly. They are large though, but rather nondescript. The wood trim has a tasteful appearance IMHO.

There's something "ugly" about 1530's? lol If there is their sound will make you forget all about it as soon as you turn them on. Good luck to you JT; I'm betting you're really going to like them

I've never heard 1530s, but I love 710s, and isn't it the same driver complement in a bigger box? I'd bet that they are spectacular.

Different drivers all the way around. The mid and tweet are used in the 1530 and 2030 only. The woofer is unique to the 1530.

Not that this means they don't sound like a nice ADS speaker.

I am talking to the owner. Hoping to work out a pickup time.
Thanks for the heads up colohiker.

No problem. Hope you are able to get them.

Yes they are kind of a monolith type speaker (cue the 2001: A Space Odyssey theme song) but they're in the man cave so styling is not a major issue. I have on occasion thought of selling mine but then I will be listening to some music and realize I'm hearing instruments I haven't heard before on that recording. Makes me forget any thought of parting with them.

I have the 1530s, 1290s, Braun 1030s, 810s, 710s, 500s, 400s. I guess you could say that I've never met an ADS speaker I didn't like....

Seems like they usually go for around a grand. Spec looks a bit different from 710's though similar drivers. More efficient while handling more power.
