ADS L2030 Restoration

Holy Cow Matt! I did not realize just how large the 2030s are! Are these the largest speakers you have owned yet? Looking forward to hearing your expert opinion of these beasts, and maybe getting some "room time" with them...lol
 
Those are really nice, very special speakers. Glad the trip went well. Good luck with getting them 100%, look forward to hearing about progress.

I've moved 1530's a few times. Not fun. But these things take it to another level at 190 lbs each!

Definitely the biggest I've owned yet, though the Bozaks took up more real estate. You'll definitely have to have some room time with them.

I did manage to get the right speaker working again. I pulled the switch panel and cleaned, lubed, and worked the switches back and forth. That seems to have remedied the problem for now. Now with both speakers working...OH, MY...these things are GOOOOOOOD. Still some distortion from a couple mids on the right speaker, so I'm going to be pulling all the mids and sending them out to be rebuilt. The tweeters have already been rebuilt and bear the adsspeakerservice stamp of approval. More to come!

Thanks! I found them right here (click) in the Dollars and Sense forum. The photos do well at hiding their flaws. They're far from perfect, but they're certainly restorable.

Not really, but, when I got home, she did thank me for getting "her" ADS' back and asked if they were her Christmas present, lol. She never forgave me for selling the 1530's. What did I get her for Christmas, you ask? Lowering springs/Bilstein suspension setup and WeatherTech floormats for her 2016 Charger R/T. She's a little different than most women.
 
Super glad these found a good home and are finally being restored! Looking forward to your impressions once they are restored and set up right!
 
Yikes!...a thousand mile rounder. I did a 365 miler each way once for a super deal on a Pioneer SX-1980 and HPM-150's in mint shape. Hope you spent the night.

Awesome speakers....hope they perform like you expect.
 
Ouch! But hey, that is an easy fix...are you going to use solid wood for new risers?
You could use decent 2"x4" lumber for better weight distribution...and laminate/paint the fronts black
 
Selling my own 2030 was a big mistake.
Best speaker ive had thus far...perhaps. the c-2000 xover did improve handling. At the time, i had a 7 channel lexicon amp, so i used 4 channels for the biamp, 2 for the rear, one for the center. This way, when i did 2 channel audio, it used 4... great control for the woofers this way. Still have the c-2000, modified for the 1590 i currently have biamped

Easy fix, but with that weight you will need to bring in a structural engineer to sign off on it.
 
These are the moments that make all of us enjoy this hobby so much! Awesome wife, great effort to obtain the new speakers and sharing comments and photos with us obsessed! Excellent.
 
Ouch...that is a horrible design. I would use 1x2 oak glued and screwed flat and use wide metal feet on the oak.

I'm not real familiar with those but looking at the one in the back seat and the one in the truck bed they don't look all that big.

And then I see the picture of them in the room.

Those are HUGE.

The clipping led went crazy on my set when i first got them, cutting sound. Sent the xovers to Richard So and he repaired them, also reconed one woofer as the coil was shot. Couldnt reall tell, it matched so well.
