ADS L520 or L570?

I have the ability to purchase a pair of ADS L520's or L570's. Which one would be the better and why?

I would think that the L570's are the better ones, but I'm curious as to what the real ADS experts have to say about this. I have yet to hear a bad-sounding ADS speaker (Even their car speakers were great... REALLY-great, actually).

I keep thinking about this... The L520 is a VERY-nice speaker. But doesn't the L570 have a bigger woofer (as opposed to the L520's 8" woofer)? Actually, that doesn't necessarily make it a better speaker. Not sure because I don't know much about the L570.

Each model had early and late versions. The early 520 had cloth grills instead of metal.

The later L570 is labelled as L570/2. I'm not sure what the exact differences are but I think this is when they replaced the tweeter fuse with a polyswitch and possibly upgraded the terminals.

L570 is an 8 ohm speaker. L520 was rated 6 nominal, 4 minimum.

They all have similar, but not identical, 8" woofers. Except for the early L520 they all use the identical tweeter.

The 570 cabinet is a bit shorter, narrower and deeper.

So which is better? My preference is for the later L520 mostly for its looks. The 570 grill never appealed to me but I'd probably go with 570 over the early 520 because of the cumulative driver improvements they made over the years.

Not to argue with Adam, but I've had both L520's (later model) and L570's (1st series). To me they sounded nearly identical. I chose to keep the L570's due to their size. They are almost the same size (a bit deeper) as Dynaco A25's and I found them a bit easier to place on shelves.

You really couldn't go wrong with either.
