ADS L810 Goodwill score

I've located a guy in AZ who can rebuild the tweeters and warrantee them. Shipping out to him monday.

Sincere apologies for the hi-jack, but I've got a dome mid on a pair of classic Brazilian-built Cantons that's bad. Can you PM me the info?

Please correct me if I'm wrong. IIRC, the L-810 is a 4 ohm speaker. 2270 have a reputation for not liking 4 ohm speakers. Just a possible heads up!
According to the users manual, you can go 4 or 8 ohm on this unit. I'm being careful at this point though. No party volume!

I did not ask him that question. However, in my initial e-mail to him, I mentioned that I had gotten his name and e-mail via the internet. That didn't seem to bother him. I found it in another forum. I've talked to him on the phone as well. Nice guy.

He does not mind :-) and i too will vouch for him honest, high quality work, fast, and a genuinely nice man who takes great pride in his work.

he does most any speaker if needed, he was going to fix some infinity Quantum mids for me but it turned out it was a cross over issue.

he recone's several brands

Really fine speakers, once you get them fixed you will be blown away by how good they sound! A friend of mine has some 520's and he scored a pair of 810's at a garage sale near his house for $40. I love the sound of the domes, they sound good anywhere in the room.

That's the guy. He did a woofer for me. Excellent service and he sent me back the wasted voice coil, probably to rub it in that I had been bad... Shame on me!

So.....where are the pics of these puppies?
The GW's by me are way over priced. I check them often, but will not pay 150- for a pair of Bose 301 series 6!

My local SA is dirt cheap, though 98% of the time there's just lots of plastic crap or low end rack systems.

You got a hell of a deal there.

I made a very similar purchase about 20 years ago. Except with water damage to the bottoms of the cases, some sun bleaching of the veneer, one broken mdf/fabric grille and one in OK condition. I think I paid $14. I'd walked to the goodwill and had to call in for a rescue to get 'em home. Three or four people tried to buy them from me as i sat on them in the parking lot waiting for my ride. iirc someone offered me a hundred bucks.

One of the woofers was torn and of course the domes were punched in. I did my ignorant teenager best at repairing them but the results are pretty embarrassing.

One tweeter was blown and i eventually bought a new production replacement. Then i damaged a dome mid. Bought some used replacements on ebay.

At this point the surrounds are torn and i made a halfassed attempt at repairing them with some very thin silicone. Mind you these are so old that the original drivers all have braun markings on them.

Some day when i have the bucks maybe I'll send the woofers to richard so while i put new veneer on the cabinets and fabricate new grill work.
