Looking at buying these speakers. Still fairly new to everything. The polks are cheaper, but the advents are refoamed and in great shape. I would greatly appreciate any advice or thoughts on these speakers! Thanks!

You've already got some good feedback on the Advent's per you other thread and here is another thread you might find useful in your research

...Still fairly new to everything. ...

As to the Polk RTA 11's research the specs online and then see if your Sansui is going to be sufficient enough to drive them.

That should always be ones initial concerns as opposed to what others think. Not trying to be rude but when questions like this are answered more times then not folks don't add what they are driving the speakers with.

Refer back to post #6 and then see if that is enough to drive them

So did you buy either the Advents or the ads from the other thread? Pretty sure with either, I'd personally pick the L1290's or the 11t's.

Thanks for the responses. I haven’t bought anything yet. The ads have no grills, the woofers look kind of bleached, and just seem old. The advent are in great shape, and I just spotted the Polk for much cheaper and thought that might be the move.

I worry about the power of the receiver for the ads as well, though I will probably need an upgrade with any of these speakers.

I appreciate you all taking the time to offer some advice.

Agreed but I'm assuming you're using something more then 32wpc to drive them, which I don't think would do justice to either

I occasionally run a Dynaco ST-70 on a pair of ads L1230's with no problems. They are quite efficient at 94db @ 1-watt but I do get what you're saying. Back "in those days", there were a great many low powered speakers sold with big speakers. Was it optimum? Maybe not; but a sale was a sale.

I ended up finding a great deal on some JBL L5s. They sound awesome with my Sansui. I am going to probably buy a more powerful receiver at some point since I’m having so much fun. Thanks to everyone for the advice!
