I had read that but as it is stated when the Legacy's were mentioned that not much was known about the models.

Fretless. this may not be much help, but I will give it a shot..Usually the Legacy's will have a white sticker near the hookup terminals saying "Legacy, Legacy 2, or Legacy 3" In addition, on the bottom of the base wood trim piece, a brass plate will denote what version they are. The Legacy 1's are I believe a bit less-tall than the 3s, and have the tweeter mounted "off center" in the platstic mounting plate. The Legacy 2's are almost identical, but have the tweeter center mounted in its plastic baffle plate. The Legacy 3's are much taller and more narrow than the first two versions, and on the back have a toggle switch that allows you to select between 6 and 8 ohm impedance. I have had all 3, and still have the 2's and 3's. I would say that the Legacy 2, to my ears is more open and detailed than the 1, and the bass on all three models is commendable, and a good tribute to the orginal Large Advents. A very easy speaker to listen to in either version with excellent bass. They do enjoy a bit of power though. Hope this was of some help 
As far as I know the orginal Legacy had a rectangular plate for the tweeter orientated sideways with the name Advent written to the side of the tweeter. Legacy II's had a rectangular plate orientated vertically with Advent written below the tweeter. Advent III speakers are taller and have a square plate without any marking.
All 3 used a 10-inch woofer.

WOW! that was the answer, I tried a search with several different combos and found a lot of info but not that one.
Thanks to you guys for all the help, it looks like I have the 1"s and I also have a pair of the 5002 (New Advent) and a pair of AR 2AX's.
The Legacy's have a more "in your face" sound with a bump in the vocal range.
I should look and see what that woofer is (it may not be an upgrade?) Sounds good though. It's not a vented dust cap either.

The bass is good though not as deep as my 5002 which are on a different system and may not be a fair comparison.
They do have a lot of definition in the bass and sound good.

Sounds like they are performing as they should then My pair of Legacy 2's get switched in and out of my Mom's system at Her home. As you said good bass definition and weight, although compared with the New Large Advent, they don't go "quite" as deep, but a very lovely speaker none the less.

No problem ... I was in the middle of an internet search myself to refresh my memory when I said wait a minute ... didn't I ask the same question? Getting old I guess!
It's hard to see in that photo but the color coding on those terminals is across both the spade and the lug and those spade connectors have a factory looking crimp. If I did not know better I would say these are factory speakers...
