Advents for sale.. Trash or treasure?

yes they are nice speakers! however that pair appears to have the dreaded foam failure on the woofers. if you really want them they might be worth that, but I would think half that is fair. then you can buy the kit and refoam them yourself.

Not that big a deal to refoam these. I have done several pair in the past. The price seems fair but if you could get them for less that would be even better. I think the first set I purchased was refoamed and cost me around $225 from a member here on AK.

Agreed with the $80, that said considering they are the bull nose cabinets and not the more common utility cabinets AND also appear to be in very good overall shape. I would cash out at a hundy.

Either way your not getting duct taped to the toilet on the deal. Worth it on ears imho

Very nice speaker! Now, see if you can find an Advent Model 300 receiver to go with them. That would be a cool retro combo.

Treasure.

Have never seen a pair that cheap around here. Maybe it's different by you.

I'd grab em but IMO too much- if they were mint bullnose I'd pay the piper but they aren't- bullnose or not they are rough and need refoaming- i've done two pair of the standard driver and they are a bit of a pain.

EDIT- the second I went back to look at them again they were gone, somebody bought them.

Mine!

Bought them for $75.:thmbsp:
Now to find who has the best re-foaming kit?
Any suggestions as to the best way to remove the masonite rings around the woofers?
Is a recap in order?

The bullnose are sought after. Good post on how to do it:

I've never done the masonite one, just the new advent style- take your time doing them and make sure everything is clean. I use the eileen's tacky glue. The first pair I did one of the VC's rub , the second pair no issues. These speakers need to be air tight after reassembly, make sure the gasket on the rear is good. As for surrounds, make sure they are for advents, not sure if they are different with the masonite ring. Universal's WILL NOT WORK, been there done that.
