Never a more interactive and welcoming group of folks have I come across in my 25 years perusing different forums. I’ll post pics when I get it done tonight.
Then I’ll move on to trying to figure out why the phono will only play out of one speaker, unless I PRESS the mono button in. But there’s still a few troubleshooting steps I need to undertake, to hopefully narrow it down.
 
The polarized bulb is probably an LED. The detail in the picture I can't be sure, but #1 looks like an LED on the end which would go with one red wire and one black wire. The pointer lamp replacement I got from another vendor for my SX-1500TD was an LED. Seems to be fine has held up for several days now. One end going to chassis ground pretty much dictated the polarity.

You might double check with Dave (dgwojo) which is which. If you put an LED where it sees too much reverse voltage it will be the death of the LED. Been there, done that.
 
Looking at specs alone, the Pioneer sx 880 is far ahead of the rest, and the only one that approaches CD quality specs. That'd be my choice, but I'd probably keep looking.

By your choices, I'm assuming you're going for a certain aesthetic. I'm sure most buyers are and are inflating the market value of such.

IME, the uglier 80s era stuff (especially early 80s), often had way better specs, and are significantly more affordable.
 
When buying something over 40 years old you have to consider replacing all the electrolytics because they are dried out. I would also replace all the ceramics in the signal path because they drift over time and dull the sound

Yes, they are cheaper for a few reasons. Unobtanium parts and lower sound quality. Folks in this thread went primarily with the 730 because it sounds the best of the offerings. Specs are just numbers on paper and most of the ones on those poop sheets can't be heard.
 
We can tell how excited to get this unit all lit up in your avatar pic. Well done. LED for the dial pointer is bright in pictures hope it is to your liking in person.
