Aerial Acoustics 10T - $4000 (North Dartmouth,Mass)

I'd love to craft a lengthy post but I have to run out and pick up a $2500 preamp and some solid gold speaker wire and diamond covered speaker spikes and some.........

You know what's the best part of an internet forum? One can skip over any part of the conversation one wishes, and all without having to awkwardly pretend to take a call :)

I've been on the Intertubes since the very early days - text is a tough way to convey the right tone. Having said that - AK and esp. D&S - are one of the nicest bunch of folks I have had the pleasure to type with.

This is exactly the thing that results in the attitude you were just complaining about. People seem to have this wonderful ability to only realize attitude when its directed against their own position on something. There is absolutely no difference between what you just posted, and what you were complaining about earlier in the thread.

You're right. I shouldn't have posted it. I was trying to be lighthearted but that's not easy to convey via prose.

dave

i am no where near the person to point a finger. paul dosent know me yet he felt the need to comment on my experience and knowledge. not only am i offended but his post really jacked this thread.

i dont namedrop here because i dont care who someone has met or is friends with. i do care what they think. ak is about the exchange of information.
I absolutely agree and as I said, my post was not meant to make excuses nor defend. I have learned to read beemer's posts with a certain amount of gained knowledge. I will also agree with how you felt. You 2 have never met and his post had a certain "personal attack" flavor to it which isn't what AK is about .

I just wanted to add a little personal/personnel knowledge to what had been posted. No attitude here, I'm still learning. That's why I come and have stayed.

Me? I'm done on this one! :thmbsp:

Best regards,
Dave

Smiley face. :D You can even use it, when you don't mean it :)

But did I mean that last one? Nobody will ever know.

I'm guilty of a lot of attitude so I have no room to talk. I'll just go back to listening to my $2500 preamp. No, really, that's what I'm going to be doing. No sarcasm :)

last summer i missed out on a deal for some arial bookshelfs along with some other very nice gear because the money wasn't then and there. I do regret missing that one

irrespective of all that I personally find beemers posts quite refreshing and succinct

That better be one hell of a preamp! :music:

I'm glad this thread could end with a fairly happy ending! It's funny how easy it is to start down a negative path and how hard it is to keep the attitude in check. In any case, what is most important is to JAM ON! Whether that be vintage gear, new gear, crappy gear, average gear, shelf systems, Bose 901, etc!

Yes, its a very nice Marantz preamp. But I usually listen to the vintage Luxman in another system. There are many ways to JAM ON as you say :music: Even on Aerial 10ts- which appear to be down to $3800 if they're the ones on Audiogon, too. So if we all wait it out, they're on the trajectory for a score price....in a year or two.

I love everyone here. Yep, I'm outspoken, opinionated, grumpy, set in my ways, yadda yadda yadda. At this point due to illness I don't know how long I've got, so I'm not gonna change either.

Audio is very subjective. Especially on the higher end. When a system is not matched correctly it can sound very, VERY bad. Fortunately for me when I had the Aerials I also drove them with equipment to match. :D The results were outstanding. :D 10t's can be a little hot on top, so some nice copper interconnects and speaker wire can go a long way.

So many good high end deals 'cause folks don't want to bother to get it right........

Been down the audio road since the late 60's and I've heard everything from s**t to shinola.

My door is still open as long as I'm taking a breath for any AK'er passing through central Mass. Ya, you might be surprised....I'm a fairly hospitable old opinionated, outspoken, set in my ways....................:smoke: Especially an open door for those who may think I'm a bit verbose or whatever.

Maybe you might like to hear the little thing I had set up in a big tent in Sudbury Mass not long ago.......

I have to thank my compadres here for their unsolicited testimonials. Once again, my door is open for all to visit. Coffee is ground from the bean, and the conversation.......well I'll leave that to your imagination. I would suggest hearing protection, as the system in the livingroom with the line arrays can make reality out of the old Maxell ad. :D And I do like it at concert level!

Best,

Paul

I vote Beemers place for the next get together!:music::D

I'd love to do something here, however although my place is fairly large, it is not conductive to much more than about 6-8 people inside at a time. The kids are grown and gone, my honey and I don't even have a couch in the living room anymore, just two huge recliners and a loveseat. (One recliner is for the "master", and distance from the line arrays carefully measured for excellent imaging). :smoke::D

I'm in an old-school residential neighborhood, and though I've been here longer now than all my neighbors, I try to treat 'em right. :thmbsp: We do have central air, thus with the windows closed inside I can pretty much rock my world at any time of the day or nite.

As to outside........

My immediate neighbors would never complain about music coming from the backyard....however I'm sure there would be some buzzkiller the next street over that would be fast to call the cops. :thumbsdn:

This is all very nice......but what this thread was about initially? Oh, yes - Aerial Acoustics for sale somewhere....................

Indeed, nice pair of Walnut 10t's in Massachusetts. These would make someone real happy if the rest of the system is of the same level.:music:

well paul

ive listened to them at length and was a dealer for some time. i always felt they were over priced to begin with. both my VR 4s & the alon iv killed them IMHO.

Closest I've heard to Alon 4's is my semi-vintage Dahlquist DQ-20i's designed by the same guy.

Never heard VR's but would like to...they just don't appear on CL very often :D
