After 32 years.....

Recently brought home fully functioning (they were all hooked up and playing) Marantz 10B, 7C and 8B plus a Thorens TD124 with Ortofon arm.

Still need to go through and clean everything up.

I sold a 10B, 7C and 8B as part of the down payment for my first house back in 1983. I never thought I would get the opportunity to replace them.

Here are the (not very good) pics:

Thank you.

There are very few components that actually get my heart rate elevated.

The 10B, 7C and 8B are three of those components.

It does.

Also feels pretty darn good to call my bride, advise her how much I am about to spend and have her support my insanity.

Not only that....she went to the bank for me. :)

So....you're saying that your lady went to the bank to get cash so you can pay for the gear?

I'm more wow'd by that than the gear, and also let me congratulate you....not for the gear, but for having such lady in your life.

You must feel like I did when I brought home my first pair (black) of Quad ESLs 35 years after first hearing some in NYC. Or like when I found the bronze pair in museum-quality preservation - not even dusty.

And my wife has been similarly supportive, too.

Congratulations!

Are you going to restore the units?Congratulations!
Yes, as soon as I can get them into the tech who works on all my equipment.

@sqlsavior
I'm also having him go through my Quad ESL57s which I believe will be the speakers I match up to the Marantz set.

I'm turning half of my home office into a near field listening room and think that this will work wonderfully in there.

All of that plus a Thorens TD-124??? Hell, that a S-C-R-O-E of a lifetime, especially here in BFE. :ntwrthy: :music:

Thank you 4Play.

I have to go back this weekend to pick up speakers, cables, etc. not familiar with the speakers and think they may be DIY or custom made. The drivers don't look like anything too special.

I'll post pics when I get them.

Isn't that a 7T preamp? I thought the 7C used brown eq knobs and the 7T used spun aluminum. Please correct me if I am wrong. Perhaps the last production runs used aluminum.

My 7C from 32 years ago had the brown switch covers. This one has silver.

Not sure if the original owner replaced the brown with silver but this is a 7C - with six beautiful tubes visible in the back.
