AI knows about AK...

AI is a very fast reader with a good memory and ability to mix together all the crap it has read about the topic you query. With all the wrong info on the web I wonder if it will lead to the dumbing down of the population.

At least the description of ak is good, “expert opinions and advice…” the latter covers the biases we have when it isn’t an expert opinion.
Bear in mind that AI in its current form lies about things about like a 10 year old caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Consider fake news and how misleading that can be...I would prefer my accepted 'fact' sources to come from some place other than AI considering how immature that technology is in its current form. Just saying...

AI technology is here to stay. Its sophistication and use will only increase. There will always be peple who promote it for their own gain and there will be others who warn us of its dangers also for there own benefit.

Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was.

Went to the veterinarian a few days ago to get a lump checked out on a new pet. They did the biopsy and instead of sending it to the lab, which would have taken several days, they had an AI program do the analysis.

There are similar AI technologies being used in radiography/diagnostic imaging. No need to go to school for 9 years to be able to diagnose a tumour from a CT scan, the AI can do it with very high accuracy.

A friend of mine(gone now, but has my everlasting respect) used 'snakes' instead of 'rats'..

He walked his dogs thru the 'hood' everyday.. carried a revolver on his hip(always)..
He was questioned one day why he carried a gun.. he explained that there are 'snakes' everywhere..

Truckers carry tire thumpers. Not sure why you'd need to thump a tire, but you know...

So, when you ask AI to draw something, it comes up with an original.

But when you ask AI to write something, the output is plagiarized?

I predict in the near future; mankind will have AI chip implants at birth giving a child an instant and ongoing education! Just think, no more school, and you won't ever have to think for yourself again! :D

AI doesn't "know" anything yet (maybe one day), but is rather like a parrot.......sometimes sounds like it knows what it is talking about, but really doesn't.

I do sometimes appreciate the summarization Google does via AI on a topic. Saves me from digging through all the search hits.

Precisely. To wit...

Just program it to recognize people with hoodies are bad, without are good.
Use us as batteries. ;)
If we are lucky, it will just force us all to play nice like the two AI's did in the old movie "Colossus,The Forbin Project".

I don’t want entertainment from AI. I want it to parse mountains of data to find genetic anomalies cure disease, run finite element analysis, and accurately do tedious tasks that are difficult for humans to do consistently. I don’t want AI to plagiarize art, illustrations, videos, or literature , compose poetry or provide summaries of information that I can glean for myself. Generative AI will only make us fat, lazy and stupid, while it robs us of our creativity for the enrichment of its masters. Eff that.
To quote Animal House “ fat drunk and stupid is no way to go through life “
Lol

IMHO, most AI today isn't AI at all, just a data collection and regurgitation system. Hmmm... maybe that's all we are too! Anyway, what worries me is how does AI know that the info it collects isn't just defective output from another AI program? It seems like the whole thing could spin down the drain to complete rubbish. Oh, wait, maybe that's what's already happening to us.

Rule for New Technology

1. Build trust in the population
2. Make it fun to use
3. Get all the authorities to endorse the benefits and cover up the danger
4. Backfill with obscure legislation protecting the owners of it
5. Develop mandates around certain uses
6. Reap the wealth it creates
