AK Design Collaborative - Insubnia

Would four of these 25hz Insubnias have a similar "smack you in the chest" midbass energy feeling that the THT offers?

How accurate (or clean?) sounding are these Insubnias when EQ'd for flat response and listening to music?

Turns out that TB W8740P driver doesn't measure as well as it looks on paper, but I have a few TC Epic 10" driver designs, and a TC Epic 8" driver design, but have not folded anything.

There is a "Group Buy" going on for the flat pack/knock down kit using this design over on the A V S site in the DIY area.

I was lucky enough to talk with member WiredBecker yesterday on the phone. I brought this CNC'ed kit up during the conversation and he wasn't aware that it was in progress. So I thought it might make sense to let you guys know about it because from what I gathered with other price quotes, it's a really good deal and still uses Baltic birch.

I'm not sure what the rules are about posting links to other sites for the Group Buy, so I probably shouldn't do that. Someone else can if they think it's okay, I just wanted to mention it.

Hey Erich, I have been away for a while and just noticed your reply. I am interested in the kit. I have a small apt. and would consider making 2. I just built a sub out of a PE KDT kit, ported with a Dayton classic 12" sub, because I can't do serious wood work. The KDT sub is only good down to 35Hz, as expected, so I probably won't keep that here. 2 Insubnias might fit in better. I'll look for that group buy.
 
Template Files

Hi folks. I'm just about to put together a few of these so I modified the CAD plans to be more of a template. I don't plan to use it as a router guide because I will use simple butt joints, but I think it will speed up the layout and reduce the sources of error. Fortunately I can plot full-size here at work, so I should be able to transfer this from paper to masonite and have a nice template for cranking these little babies out. Maybe one can do this through Kinkos or similar if they don't have access to a plotter.

Note, I added some reinforcements connecting the various floppy pieces, so anywhere you see a rounded edge is where you will have to connect the lines after you remove the template.

I just heard from Erich H who messaged me via the AVS forum. He says the CNC flatpack will be available again in a month.
 
So I'm thinking one of these subs will be my winter project. I'll use this for music at reasonable volumes, so the PE 70W amp should be fine. I've read that an HP filter is needed for the sub amp and that some amps have this built in and some don't. Would I need to add something to the PE amp for use with this design or is it good to go as is? Forgive the noob question but I'm new to speaker building and this seems like a good start and supplement to my existing setup. I've been reading the various insubnia threads and can't seem to glean this critical detail. Thanks.
