Great to read that some "love" this new status of being.
And, there are still times that I tend to miss some of the comradery that went with some of my past vocations. But, I'll sit down, have a coffee, take the dog for a walk, or call someone I haven't done so in while.

Had a conversation with 2 of my previous coworkers today and was asked how it was treating me and my response was have not regretted it one second. I do miss however miss several of them. There are some good fellows still there, but I don't miss the stress one bit.

I kept my motorcycle endorsement when I renewed my license this year but highly doubt i will ride again for those very reasons. I would like to give Triumph's Bonneville Speedmaster a ride.

my 2 bonnes are 1968 and 1971, i havent ridden any of the new ones. the one bike i still ride is a suzuki DR 650,we used to call them enduros now they are dual sport. i still like old gavel and dirt roads but it will get out and do the hardball at 75, but its great for back roads and such

Been beating around the idea of retirement since my brother came to visit. We are only 11 mths apart and he is calling it quits by the end of summer. So I thought about it for quite some time.
We are all 6'9" and bullet proof...until we aren't. My mind might be 30 ish...but the body is done. So I formally made an offer of semi-retirement to the owner of my company. I have just developed and instruct a 5 week course to "green" individuals that want to get into the machining field. He did not want to loose my expertise. So....I worked out a deal to teach at least 4 courses a year and nothing more. I will be part time and received a substantial pay increase. My new class starts Monday. I will officially become part time on the 20th.

My wife is also retired, but she still works afternoons in the business she created.
We see each other at the end of the day and week-ends, as we used to, throughout our lives.
Kids are gone and we enjoy our time together more than ever.
I am truly lucky.

i was an administrative manager running three recharge units. ucla is my alma mater (and i grew up a couple blocks from westwood and santa monica!).
