AK vernacular, lets start a dictionary!

treserious

Post Punk Junkie
So I have noticed that there are some words used on AK, that likely originate here, and are an indicator of our culture (or lack thereof)

post any made up words that you only really see used here.

I'll start;

SCROE
score, as in "great SCROE!!"
an advantageous purchase

Won't be any fun if you don't format:
scroe
an advantageous purchase

woogers
a loudspeaker driver designed to produce low frequency sounds

Welcome to the slippery slope of vintage. Racoon the woogers on your scroe, you audiophool. Try a LOMC on your DD TT, and check the antiskate. Do the Econowave thing, get a big Mac and remember to set DC offset and bias.

Jargon? What jargon?! What could be clearer than that? :headscrat :dunno:

But I could understand if someone thought that the "big Mac" would come from McDonald's restaurant, and "DC offset and bias" somehow referred to Capitol Hill... :D

Actually, a genuine dictionary of REAL terms used in electronics/audio/gear repair would probably be of more use than one focusing on just AK lingo. The AK one would be very short, indeed. The only difficulty is that even such a dictionary can still leave you a bit perplexed, unless you have some basic knowledge of electronics. Reading a few basic textbooks is a wise first step. Your public library is a great friend here.
