Akai 1700

Hi!
I tried to turn on my Akai 1700 reel to reel deck, and it doesn't seem to produce any sound (mechanically it obviously works, and the tubes are on). This unit has been in storage for almost 5 years.
I found the service manual and one of the options for failure there refer to a 250K 1/2 P resistor.
I took the resistor out of the circuit, tested it, and it does seem dead.
I couldn't find any place that sells this type of resistors.
First, I want to confirm with anyone who can help - 1/2 P, means 0.5 Watt?
Is there an affordable place that can sell these type of components in small quantities and reasonable shipping fee? (Common vendors like Fry, Digi-Key, etc doesn't seem to have these in their inventory, and anyway I think they sometimes overprice very basic components)
Opinions?

BTW, if there are more possible failures related to muted audio - I will be very happy to know about!

Cheers,
Amir
