Hi!
I'm new in this forum.
I have a Revox B77 (2 tracks, 2 channels + Slide Synch option) open reel tape machine.
Even the years, almost all is fine (I need a new Counter belt, but it is just a detail).
From a week or so, I cannot to get full audio from the monitor board.
I just get -42 db...
Ok, I just got an Akai GX-4000D reel-to-reel. It’s pretty immaculate, clean as a whistle inside and out (except for some dust on the bottom circuit board). Old grease wasn’t bad, I cleaned that up and put new lithium grease on where needed.
The heads look unmarred, all wiring looks untouched and...
I have been working on a couple Sony reel-to-reel players (TC-366 and TC-540) and both of the red pads that the flywheels sit on have come unglued from the metal chassis. I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of glue would work best for these pads since they are normally covered in grease. I...
Hey there,
I’ve got a TEAC reel-to-reel I’d like to fix up for use to record for fun. I have never run the motor yet. When I first plugged it in I checked the voltage from chassis to ground I got a 50V reading. I figured that meant I should probably (1) add a grounded cord and (2) recap the...
Hi all,
After a long time pondering I finally got my first Reel-to-reel to add to my Pioneer stack. It's an RT-707.
It's very clean and got (apparently) everything working.
I've cleaned the heads, re-lubed the pinch rollers and tried to play this tape (link to it in case it's relevant)...
I recently dug out my dad's Pioneer RT-1011L Reel to Reel, cleaned it all up, Deoxed the knobs, and lubed it all up. It functions well, but the right channel is pretty fuzzy. It sounds like there is a loose connection or something. The left channel sounds great. I have tried cleaning and...
Hi!
I tried to turn on my Akai 1700 reel to reel deck, and it doesn't seem to produce any sound (mechanically it obviously works, and the tubes are on). This unit has been in storage for almost 5 years.
I found the service manual and one of the options for failure there refer to a 250K 1/2 P...
Recently I found a concord reel to reel unit, model 102. Naturally it needs belts, however I've been striking out finding anything for it. Honestly I haven't been able to find a lot of information on it in general. Any help in finding belts and/or manuals would be greatly appreciated. I will...
Hi, I picked up an Akai GX-365D at auction this weekend for $111 and was very excited to get it home and plugged into my system. I threaded a tape through and powered it on and was pleased that it started playing immediately. Unfortunately, it also has this loud rumble, that sounds like wind...
I just pulled my boxed-up Sony TC-730 tape deck out of the closet after having it sit there for about 20 years. I bought it in Japan in 1972 and it had been in good shape before I stored it away. It's a great deck, with Auto-Reverse and Bi-Directional Recording, and it has a first rate built-in...
Hello,
Today I came across my late father's Teac X-1000R reel to reel tape deck and was excited to get it running and play some of his old recorded tapes. Unfortunately I ran into an issue trying to get it to play and having no experience with this technology am at a lost as to how to fix it...
I'm having trouble listening to the recording I make on this equipment. What I reproduce is perfectly fine, but what I record on it, reproduces slow. I heard what was recorded on other equipment, but now I do not have any other equipment to test. The speed variation is intermittent, on average...
And another question: When I moved in September, the movers dropped my much-loved Sony TC-366 tape recorder. When I got all my gear set up again, I found that the player was making a knocking noise when I played back. This is a mechanical noise that sounds like something is definitely...
Hi everyone,
I just picked up my first reel-to-reel machine, a Pioneer RT-707. Aside from a ding in shipping (sadly on the faceplate) and a couple of minor issues (see below) the machine looks in great shape. The heads are in outstanding physical shape. After playing a couple of tapes last...
This is a view of the main audio control room for my house. There is an Ampex 440 modified with Ampex 351 heads and electronics, a tube type Collins cart machine, several other types of Cart machines and carts, Gates 16" transcription turntable, Sony stereo turntable, Dukane PA amp 60...
