AKAI AP 306C - small value capacitors

Hi Y'all,

Am busy trying to collect all the capacitors I need for the drive drive PCB (AP-2642) and stumbled upon two odd looking capacitors, in blue (electrolytic), from Sanyo having low capacitance values: 2.2uF/25v and 0.47uF/25v.

Mouser isn't able to go that low in the preferred Nichicon PJ series I want. Can I choose a different voltage rating and still be ok?

Dont ever go lower on your voltages, you can go higher. Or choose ones from a different series that match the required capacitance, and are the same or higher voltage

Sure you can. Go with 50VDC and choose any of the 'General Purpose' electrolytics from Mouser, with the required lead spacing. Nothing with C10 and C11 requires long life, hi-temp or any audio specific parameters. They're just part of a low voltage RC network. No need to sweat it with a specific series. General purpose caps today are factors more advanced than any that were available in the late 70's and those turntable mfgrs didn't really bother with TOTL electronic components at the time, especially when there was no reason to, like in this case.

Nichicon is reducing their production of low voltage caps in lieu of making higher voltage ones. I imagine other manufacturers are doing the same. So, when you need a 1 uF 25 V in the KL series and Mouser doesn’t have any, look for any voltage in that series and capacitance. You’ll find they do have those, but in 50 V and 100 V choices. Those are fine for handling lower voltage applications. This has changed the way I search for matching caps.
 
Sorry for hijacking my own post, but is the POI capacitor on the AP-306 to be replaced by a secure capacitor? I've chosen the (80-PME278RC5470MR30; mouser) as a replacement?
Was I correct in making that assumption?

yes, you did good. It's an across-the-line safety capacitor (note the AC '~' demarcation) to be replaced exclusively with X1/X2 class caps. Kemet P/PME 278 series is X1 (metalized paper).
