Akai GX 266 D

i might have a chance to buy an Akai GX 266 D - advertised locally on Craig's list - claims its brand new in box and never used ! I made him an offer of $100 IF it's as described
Would that be a good buy ?

It probably would be, but be mindful it will need to be properly serviced. Don't be alarmed about needing relay cleaning, caps, transistors, and other items.

I'll probably go ahead and buy it if it really is new and never used - I've got a buddy that can check it out and service it - I've got a Pioneer RT 707 so I don't need another R2R but I guess the addiction will win !
