The buttonworks pads have a clear square of single sided adhesive, the black pad is on the same side with the adhesive. I essentially did exactly the same application as shown in post #13 of this thread specific to orientation and coverage.
Thanks, @Bone Yard , I'll check those out the videos you noted. These buttons have a little two stage rubber plunger - one that impacts the inner section of the pad, the other being the outer area of the pad. Ideally, once pressure is applied and the smaller nipple is compressed, the new flattened plunger surface somehow activates the circuit. These plungers are very firm but I'm still optimistic! I wish they were simpler, they're incredibly clean, no dirt or junk can even get to this board.
