Alan Parsons Project - I Robot ... Which Version LP?

The Japanse pressing 25RS70 seems to have higher clarity (without added sibilance), than the Classic release, but maybe lacks Classic's warm tube sound. To me, one's not really better than the other, just different.

This is what I own Nippon Toshiba 26RS70 and ims sounds better than the original MFSL pressing. How it stacks up against the Classic pressings I haven't a clue because I've never heard it.
Tales of Mystery and Imagination on 20th Century Records, gatefold with rice paper lyric sheets is the original pressing.
I have Nippon Toshiba pressings of Pyramid,Eve, Turn of a Friendly Card also and they sound uber. I bought them with obi all at one time used (mint shape) at Moby Disc.

"The Instrumental Works" is a fantastically recorded and pressed compulation. DMM mastered. Nice when you only want the instrumentals.

I have many versions of I Robot. Here's a quick breakdown of my top 3 by price.

A clean original US Arista pressing is best on the budget. They sound nice and should be found for under $5.00 at a local record store.

The original MFSL version is a really nicely balanced pressing. You should be able to get a clean one for $30-$35.

The Legacy Addition is a 2 LP set. Disc 1 is the original release, great sq, love it. Disc 2 is a radio spot (which I think is cool) and demo/outtakes. Price should be $40-$45. This is my favorite version for the price.

Expensive BUT the best = The 200g Classic Records release is a real winner, but hard to find and $$$. If you've got the coin and want the best, here ya go.

Side note - I have a few different Japan issues all of which are nice pressings, maybe a bit bright but still nice. These should all be found for under $30 if you're patient and find a US seller.
 
My favorite 'I Robot" is a German press that I bought from a German vendor on Discogs, Bold and powerful sounding yet delicate when it needs to be. $18 in the door. Beats the Mo-Fi 2 LP reissue except for the Mo-Fi's very quiet vinyl. Also have a common US pressing that sounds nice.Like Karmices said they are available for $5-$10 at most used record stores.

The GRM press is a lot of fun! I prefer it to the MoFi and better priced to boot!
 
I have the MoFi 45 RPM version and I will never complain. Then again I would never complain about this album in any version. Eye in the Sky is also a milestone album.
