Thanks for replying Glenn! I’m sorry to hear of the lack on attendance this spring. I’d definitely be keen to attend any event setup in our area. I’m in Beacon but work in Brooklyn, so anywhere from the NY boroughs to Albany would be easy for me. More than happy to stop by in Peekskill if you want to meet up

My late dad was really into hifi and passed this interest on to me. I mostly see this hobby as a way to connect with those memories with him. I’m also keen to learn how to repair and upgrade vintage gear. I’m a scientist/engineer by trade and enjoy the technical challenge.

What’s the user name for Tom B in Bay Ridge? I’m going to see if I can pay him a visit after work one day. I have two 70s era receivers that need work (Sansui 7070 and Yamaha CR420). I’ve tried to do some of this myself already, but I’m still new to the technical side of things and need some help.

It would be great to meet you! I plan to attend the next Frankenfest. I’ve been going for many years and usually organize the listening sessions for people to demo their systems. It’s a lot of fun, stuff for sale, great conversation. Tom has attended some Frankenfest gatherings. His user name is Tom B.

I’ve had a couple small gatherings at my house in the past, and would love to have a few people come to the house again. It’s been a while.

I’ve been a music junkie since I was a kid. Back in the 60s, my Mom always had vinyl spinning. My dad passed two years ago this month. He was an art director in advertising. Back in the late 60s he handled the creative for JVC, Sony and a few others when they started to ramp up importing to the U.S. market. He got a system direct from JVC and I grew up listening to it, hence my affinity for JVC gear. I have his system now.

I mainly focus on speaker restoration, though I did restore my Scott LK-72 tube amp, with a ton of help here from the tube gurus!

Hi everyone. Glenn - GD70 is thinking about having a meetup in peekskill ny. He is taking a poll to see if there is enough interest to have one. He must have a certain number to make this viable. If you show up you get to meet other's who have similar interests, some bring systems so every one can hear. People bring stuff to sell, equipment and music. There is a secondary thread for buying and selling. I have always had a lot fun at these events. Hope to see you there.

I'm in the Albany area too, and would be interested in any events or house meetups in the local region. Randy of Bear Labs used to host an audio club, but that was a few decades ago...

FrankenFest is a paltry 2:30 drive from Albany coming up on Saturday April 13th.
We get folks from all over the northeast attending - usually 60-120 attendees.

Hi Bob, Glenn should have a date hopefully by the beginning go the week ( 3/11 ). Go to events & happenings / Peekskill ny and let him know. He's trying to see if there is enough interest. If it's a go there will be a buy /sell thread and Chris is thinking about demoing several different cables. Bring friends. I have never been to frankenfest would love to but it's too far too drive. It is probably the biggest in the northeast. I have talked to many who have gone 'they all loved it. hopefully you will make it
