Easy False for me. I care about ergonomics, functionality and appearance, too. Remote required. Visibility of settings important, also. And no facial scars, please, 'cause I'm shallow hal.

Later Edit: When I started this thread, I meant to include reliability, but forgot. Several mentioned it, and I fully agree. Brand support history is a part of that, too.

Although it does come down to the sound , I have to have my equipment a certain way and there has to be synergy all around , not just in the sound but looks as well .

All I care about is the sound.
It's pure coincidence that my stuff happens to look good too.
But honestly, I have never bought something that didn't sound good nor have I bought something that sounded bad but looked good.

For me a few things are considered.

1) Sound quality
2) Aesthetics
3) Simple operation
4) Price & value for money

So yeah, I voted no. It's not just about sound quality. It's also the experience and I don't mind lack of a remote although if it has one its a bonus. For the most part it seems that nothing that meets my criteria tends to have a remote.

Even though I have the criteria numbered it needs all 4 for me to purchase.

It has to sound good, but I'd prefer something else appealing as well. It doesn't have to be cosmetically appealing in the traditional sense, but something that keeps my interest is key. If you gave me the best sounding whatever in the world, but it was a featureless box I would probably just get bored and not use it.

Simple to operate has never been a key feature for me. Of course my idea of simple to operate usually flies in the face of the traditional definition. I also tend to have an extremely difficult time using things that many consider dead simple. One-button with a touch screen, forget it. A non-intuitive series of knobs and switches that need to be operated like I'm cracking a bank vault? Piece of cake.

I really wanted to say true, but can't. I've reached a point in life where simple to use and convenience of a remote are essential. Full disclosure requires that I confess I've always required speakers that are easy on the eye as well as sounding good.

Seems like your version of simple to operate matches my own. To me sound systems need full manual operation.

I may have made my career in IT, though I don't want to see a piece of modern technology when I come home. The opposite of when I was in my 20's really.

Always knew how to use dad's 80's era equipment better than he did. That's the simple operation I look for ;)

If it fits my room, audio stand and price range, than yeah, it's all I care about. That's a lotta ifs, though. If it was just the sound than I would need a special room designed just for listening to music, and speakers as big as small cars.

In fairness i've had beautiful pieces i wanted to love and they're not here anymore (sound:thumbsdown:)
I've had a couple i just didn't like the way they sounded as much as other pieces. Do i think the pieces i kept are the coolest looking ? Maybe not. BUT, i think the keepers look pretty cool. I still have a pipe dream of sneaking the glowing fire bottles into a more prominent place in the house. For now they're safer in the man cave. Looks figure into it. Sound is first and foremost!

Pretty is nice, but if it sounds like crap, out it goes. The Mitsubishi DA R7 is a great unit to look at, but the sound was not what I wanted. It is gone.

Well, sound is the ultimate goal, as best as we can afford or like, but reliability is right up there as being important as well. A solid well built running unit means a lot for me and others.
