Have you checked your VTA? My OC9 with the Microline stylus was a bit too tail up and everything snapped and popped. Leveled it out and everything got much quieter. YMMV.

Where is it set at right now? Many people prefer to run their VTF close to the high side.

Gonna give this a try. A spin clean with no soap. Have a listen to this guys perspective with regards to soap, and shampooing your hair without rinsing. Interesting.

125 is quite a bit!
I'd try 1.4 grams. But it is most likely static causing your issue.
Yeah, f.. G hate static or crackles. That's why I started this thread. Even w my new albums.

I had exactly the same thing wSME3009/V15III/VN35MR - static crackle amplified by the preamp...pretty much unlistenable, it was so annoying.
When I swapped out the TT motor unit with another one, I had to remove the armboard and wiring, so I cleaned all the RCA connectors and original SME connector (!) carefully with deoxit and moved the phono preamp ground to another point (mostly for convenience/looks).
I also re-checked the VTA (1.25g) and arm alignments/weights per original instructions...some were a little off, but don't recall which.
All static crackles are now gone.
Something in the original motor unit (which couldn't maintain speed anymore)? Unlikely.
Wiring? Probably, esp that funky SME tonarm connector thing, but I'd cleaned that once before recently. Maybe.
Grounding? Maybe.
Glad it's gone though.
FWIW, I'm just using an original Parastat & distilled water for cleaning/de-static-ing before playing.

I use a spin clean all the time. I use the cleaning solution the sell. I wipe the records dry utilizing "fruit of the loom" or othe quality t-shirts. Never any issues. I play my records on three different turntables. I tried microfiber in the past and they suck for cleaning vinyl. Nice for cars though
