Allied Knight KN-615HC

I have scored some mint Allied Knight KN-615HC 15" 16 ohm 50 watts 3-way speakers. I am told these are the same as Electro-Voice 15TRX.
I have tried to find T-S parameters for these speakers but none could be found. I did find a old file from Electro-Voice Bass Refex Enclosures,
It states 8 cu.in. or more and recommended 11 to 21 cu. ft. box Large?
Anyone have T-S parameters or experience with these speakers
That can give me some guidance?
Thanks!

search AK for the 615HC, there's a number of members that have a pair if I believe. The T/S parameters for the 15trx are around the web. If you have access to a tool like 'Woofer Tester 3' (WT3) that can be had from Dayton/Parts Express you can generate your own T/S parameters fairly quickly.

p.s. even though minty you might consider replacing the old crossover capacitors.

Unfortunately, Terry Gesualdo EV fanboy pages seem to have gone Tango Uniform.
(the erstwhile www.vintageev.com see, e.g.,. http://www.audiophiletalk.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1256169084 )

Perhaps that web archive thingy would turn it up.

The latter piece of advice - measure your own via WT3 or by hand - is actually the best way to go even if you find published T-S parameters. The most accurate numbers for your drivers will be the ones measured for them directly!

As soon as I can muster up enough enthusiasm to do so, I'l be pulling one of my 615HC's out of their cabs for parameter testing using WT.

I wouldn't rely on anything parameter wise you find out there on them either. I agree with Mark. You best do it yourself and work from those numbers.

It's a pretty easy process if you wish to recap them. There is a bolt that holds down the motor cover hiding under the round AL. decal plate. The plate is fastened down with adhesive. There is no way your going to get it off by trying to pry it up without damaging it. Using a heat gun directed at the plate will allow you to melt the adhesive and pry it up with out damage. It takes a bit to get the temp right to melt the glue but when you hit and maintain that temp, a thin blade something or another can be used and it should come right up. I just used a utility knife and it worked out well.

Once you get the decal plate up just remove the bolt holding the motor cover down, pull the cover and the x-over will be right in plain sight staring back at you.

Hey Darrell,

I'm sure any reasonable audio grade film/foil poly cap would work well for you. I used a combination of Dayton's and a couple of other I had on hand to create the value(s) I needed.

Here is a link to the thread I started about my 615HC's when I went about recapping them.

At the moment I have them in some @5 cu-ft Barzilay cabs with the backs removed and was experimenting with different amounts of fill. In this arrangement, porting doesn't come into play. You don't need to go that large but they really want a 8-12 cu-ft cab. My preliminary design plan was for 8 cu-ft and I'm still playing around with tuning. Once I get some reasonable parameters from WT and run them in WIN isd, I should be better able to come up with a porting scheme that I like.

If they're OEM versions of the 15TRX, they're quite decent but not in the same ballpark as 604 family members (in my phenomenally biased opinion).

From a recent thread on Karlson kabinets :-) here's a little tidbit from Karlson that might be one of the few places that you'll see both drivers mentioned in the same context :-)
