Soundwise well worth it However, that's stretching what the actual market is, close to $100 on eBay excluding shipping.

the same guy is selling both I have the RDL version of the 7's and really enjoy them soundwise they are a special speaker and even though the market for them is weak it really has nothing to do with their sound quality I'm curious as to what the guy is replacing them with

soundwise I would imagine the 5's are very similar to the cd-7 with maybe a tad less bass due to the smaller cabinet.

Go listen to them both there may not be much difference between the two You may also find on listening (as I did) that they're a step up from all the $100 fodder out there and then establish a price you can both live with

Agreed. Go listen to them, and if you like them, go for it. Make sure the tweeters are okay. Make sure the foam surrounds we redone properly.

It's too bad the grilles have issues (well, most do anyways)- but for me, the general cosmetic condition seems *maybe* iffy too. Maybe he took a bad pic. I see veneer issues in one picture though. Maybe the veneer can be touched up with some Howard's.

I have the CD-9's, Four's, and CD-6's. Needless to say I am fond of allison speakers.

EDIT
As for the five's he has listed: those appear to be much more uncommon than the seven's. I would say, in my humble and completely subjective opinion, with new foam and in good condition, $100 seems reasonable. I've never heard them before, though, so just going off of the spec sheets.

Check the library at http://www.classicspeakerpages.net for info on the five. They have a brochure which lists its specs, etc. Looks like the Five was introduced as a less expensive version of the Four.
