Almarro A318B Integrated amp...WOW!

I've heard that big bad boy a couple of times, at past Fests. At the 2006 Fest, the designer, Yoshihiro Muramatsu, brought the 318A and the A205, to show them off with two new speaker designs, the M1A, paired with the 205, and the larger M3A, mated with the 318. Both combinations were stunning. I got to enjoy some excellent conversation with Yoshi-san, in spite of the language barrier.

I ended up with the baby brothers, the A205 and the M1A speakers. I spend time with them every single day.

Could I connect an equalizer to the A318B? Also it doesn’t come with a phono stage correct?

The A318 is an integrated, and has no tape out or processor loop. Whether you can jerry-rig something will be a question answered by others.

No phono stage.

Only if you use the high-level outputs, and your sub is equipped to handle that.

I would guess the higher, more robust build of the 318B would give it the edge over the A205.

But as an A205 owner I was extremely happy with it on my La Scalas and it sounded pretty nice on Squidward's modded Cornwalls, so I wouldn't sell it short.

i really don´t know how to tell if my sub is equipped to handle that...dont have the manuals.

it is a powered sub. could you help out a newbie find out ?

...Never mind I already found out my subwoofer has speaker level inputs. But I don’t see outputs, so I am confused as how to set it up properly. The amp output speaker cables runs to the subwoofer speaker level inputs and then what?

Depending on your sub, it should go from there to your primary speakers.

both the almarros mentioned above are integrateds, so they don't use or require a separate preamp. My early version A205 has only one input channel, so I have a source selector switch to choose what source I want to play. Later versions have two or three input channels.
