Aloha,
My name is Chris, and I’m from Hawaii, born and raised. I’ve always been into audio, both car and home, as far back as 2nd grade (I’m 31 now). Thanks to my father, I’ve been able to mess around with audio for nearly 20 years.

I have dabbled into home speakers more often than car speakers, although who could resist 18 inch subwoofers and thousands of watts!

I’ve recently gotten interested in vinyls and vintage speakers/ amplifiers, but it’s hard to find decent equipment here. Luckily I’ve been able to snag a pair of JBL 4412’s which have been one of the best speakers I’ve heard so far.

I enjoy this website, and reading everyone’s posts about different speakers, amps, etc.

Happy Holidays, hope to stick around for a while.

Welcome to AK!

Adopt me and let me move to Hawaii from Michigan and I promise to bring lots of junk er, ah, good audio equipment and vinyls with me when I move in. :)

Aloha Chris!

I moved to Maui about a year ago. Family has been here for generations. Just took a peek on Craigslist. There are some Advents with stands and a pair of Yamaha NS-1000s. Great vintage speakers.

Oh wow! You’re here, I’m on Maui. I believe those speakers are on Oahu, so it would be a hassle to get it here.

usually 24 hr. Fitness. I was bouncing around at CrossFit gyms but I got laid off from Maui Electric, so money isn’t the greatest atm.
Cool. I started at Planet Fitness this past summer. They had a $10 a month deal. Doing cardio in air conditioning is much easier. lol.

Sorry to hear about getting laid off. Good luck with that.

thanks. Since I now know someone who has a lot of experience with audio lives here, perhaps you could help me when I do need help? I think I have a pair of AR 2-ax ‘s that need their pots cleaned (the woofers and tweeters work, just a bit scratchy on the knob for the treble)

I can help some. But I'm not that great for actual repairs.

I had a pair of AR-2ax and AR-2a (old pics). The pots are notorious to try and get cleaned. If it's just a bit scratchy, that's not bad. DeoxIT is great for cleaning pots. But it will take some doing.

The grills on these were held on by velcro. The surrounds on the woofers most likely need to be replaced.
