They are about 8.25cuft interior space, but without any porting! I gotta say, they sound wonderful, but, what can i be missing with this configuration?

How do you find the bass in the non ported cabs? I think you need around a 15 cubic foot cab to negate the need for porting on 604's

The bass is actually quite good! I am surprised how good they are. They are my 1st or 2nd best speakers. I have never seen 604s in non-ported cabinets, so i was shocked how good they actually perform

I saw them on Marketplace for less than a set of beat up Advents. They had been there for 18 hours! I figured long gone. Nobody answered the ad! I was stunned, sooo i took the road trip and grabbed them.

Crossing state lines to purchase used audio equipment? I like it!.

Good to see there are still some "scores" out there. I've but all given up on looking anymore. If there is an estate sale within <5 miles I'll check it out.

From the data sheet, total Qts is .9287.....the 6048G is .25 I would say for a sealed cab

would be desired .. but you need to do more research if a ported is desired.

So i assume the “K” version of the 604is indeed better suited to a sealed enclosure than previous inclinations?

Stop now. You like them as they are. Are the grills removable? If so take some pictures and post them. They are fine looking speakers and fit well in the room.

I know, lol. I am just curious as to why they were put in sealed cabinets. They are in beautiful condition, all three cabinets are dated 9/15/1963.. so the drivers have been updated along the way. The construction of the boxes is fantastic as well!

Maybe the builder recognized that 604s are not going to provide a lot of deep bass and sacrifices a bump in the lowest octave for a smoother curve and a bit deeper response. My 604s are in sealed cabinets (15.5 cu ft external), along with an auxillary 15".

Beautiful set up. Those Maggotboxes sure look purty.
Thanks! I got them as working standalone console pulls, but i thought they were butt ugly, so i reworked them a little bit. Put them in Hammond chassis’, and used top of the line sockets etc. Underneath, i tidied up all the wiring. And spun any AC wires together in a drill and bundled them. The two monos are now DEAD silent even on 105db horns! Super happy how they turned out
