Any idea what a pair Of Altec 604D Duplex in good condition might be worth? Are they worth more than the 604E super duplex which was the next 604 iteration.
Thanks!

Which cones/surrounds do they have? The cone design changed during "D" production.

Crossovers included? Not that i'd ever use them but serious collectors and parrots put a significant value on them.

"D" is the least desirable version of a highly desirable driver.

The "E" would see revision in the motor giving it a thicker top plate and shorter voice coil for more linear bass response to much higher SPL than ever before. The "E" is where the 604 response finally became full range by today's standards, IMO.

If they have early style cones(the very best Altec midrange), i'd value them the same as a late style 604C as they are the same driver IF the original cones are in good condition. Early style cones are once again available, at significant cost.

As far as I can tell, the 604C and the early 604D's are exactly the sam, as Bowtie said. They do sell for less. I found a 604C for cheap and paid $700 from a guy in New York that had a single 604C, so I could make the set. Condition is paramount for price, so if they are in excellent condition I'd estimate they'd sell on ebay for between $1000 or $1500 for a 604D, depending on condition, originality, etc.
