That'd be my guess.
There's something smeared on the outer edge of the cone on the left speaker that doesn't belong there.
The original cones and dust caps are very light sensitive, most examples will show at least some degree of fading.

Hi! I have the Model 14s too. Just bought them from someone. Now the bass drivers were reconed before I bought them, and the compresssion drivers have been changed. I can get the bass drivers reconed close to the original specs, but am stuck with the compression drivers. Any advice?

Pretty sure great plains audio has all the correct parts to re-cone the woofers.
902(B/T configuration with loading cap) with 7/8 inch throat is the only correct HF driver for the MR931-12 horn.
