Amazon and Walmart play games with pricing

That's what I'm getting with Chewy's. Let's see what happens on the third order.

I've never heard of Chewy's ... had to look 'em up.

Oh yeah: I looked over @ Amazon France and -- yeah -- they have one variety of your Wagner's (terrific) bird seed in stock, the one badged Greatest Variety (...really...?...)

Anyway, one variety @ (only) the 16-lb size (whoah ... not listed according the metric weight? Where am I!?) Wait... ah yes, in the French-language portion of the page it's listed as weighing 7 kg. Whew, we dodged an international incident there.

It's a bit pricier over here do do be grateful for that $30 per 20-lb bag dealio if/when the seed spigot's back on. Here's what'cha get over here:

Nice to know this -- ahem -- price includes TVA.

Anyway, Euro 179.36 = $212.69

Gotta love dem birds yo.

PS: Shipping & Handling EXTRA

But aren’t Amazon and Walmart prices uniform for all customers? I can understand promotions and coupons being selectively sent out by customer habits, but there are Amazon deal threads all over and as far as I know, when there’s a good deal (again, promotions aside), anyone can get it. And when the price spikes back up, everyone sees that higher price.

There was an article a few years that prices change depending on how your access the item cell phone vs computer(or Mac vs windows user) and also change the price depending on what web browser you are using

not from what I can see. Go on to Amazon and Walmart and call up "Wagner's Southern Regional Blend Deluxe Wild Bird Food, 20-lb bag" and let me know what price you get.. This is what I got from Walmart

so, it's not just me then, eh?

Actually, I called Wal Mart yesterday and talked to a nice CS rep. I had the item on my screen with the $30 price and she looked up the same item. Her price showed less than $20
So, it's true.

Apparently not.
I've learned to be wary of the "Buy it Again" option.

Thanks for the tips - good to know.

And don't you love how you have to change the defaulted shipping option to get your free shipping? Ever forget to do that, and remember seconds after clicking Place Your Order?

...and this is from Chewy's.

I get the same prices shown as all the above quotes. So price is uniform. I think I’m missing the point here.

What is BIA?

One thing you DO have to be careful of though is who the default seller is for an item. I can see different users possibly having different defaults served up to them and thus the price appearing different. I also believe there’s dynamic pricing involved where if a lot of people are viewing a product, the price may change quickly and appear different.

I also believe that if you’re sitting on a product page, you may see an “old” price displayed and different from the price someone might see if they do a new search on that item. Adding the item with the old price should result in a cart notification saying the price has changed (or it just shows the new price). When I’ve had a product just sitting in my cart at one price and the price gets changed (or the item sells out from my original seller), I do get a warning message.

But at the same exact moment in time, assuming the seller is selected to be the same, I have a hard time believing different prices are charged to different customers.

To put it simply, both Walmart and Amazon jacked my price for bird seed from $20 to $30 on the same product. Not how others got different prices for the same item from the same dealers.

This was dome when I chose the "reorder" option. Had I not checked the price I would have been screwed.

But my point/belief is that that higher price point was uniform for everyone at that instant in time. Are you saying that if you go to Amazon right now, you still see a $30 price when the rest of us see $23.98?

In this thread you see a screen from my computer for this item. See what you get when you look for it.

when went to place my third order for this eight weeks ago, it went up to $30.

on Amazon, it' now about $24 but two months they wanted $30. That's when I went to Walmart for two orders. They did the same thing.
