Amazon Basic RCA Cables

RocketFoot

Everyone's a DJ until you give them a set of 1200s
First of all, I am not an audiophile by any means, but I do enjoy good, clean sound! With that said, I can recommend these Amazon Basics RCA cables without hesitation! I have now replaced all the RCA connections in the vintage rig 6 or 8 foot Amazon Basics RCA cables...they are really well built, look super nice and they are even color coded for left and right! There are not a lot of detailed specs on Amazon about them but I can tell you that the cable is pretty thick but seems to be covered with silicone to keep them soft, tangle free and easy to manage! The RCA ends feel very solid with gold plated connections and they fit on the RCA ports nice and tight...no wiggle at all! I had to break the cable management rule on my install by running some RCA's next to power cables but they are shielded and I have not heard an ounce of interference in my set up! They are available on Amazon int he $8 - $15 range for different lengths! I just thought I'd do this little review in case you haven't seen or heard of these cables! I'll never use those cheap ass red and white component cables ever again after trying these cables! If you're like me and enjoy good quality cables but are too cheap to buy premium audiophile cables...Amazon Basics are for you! Enjoy folks! Rocket out!

You're new to the site you so you'll learn that this is one of a few areas that are controversial. Having said that I use the same cables and agree with you that they are good enough. If you really want to stir things up, post about power cables, speaker wire or audiophile grade fuses. Lol.

Oh geez, I wondered why I didn't see much mention to these wonderful cables when I did a quick Google site search! I didn't want to stir the pot, I was just so pleased with the quality vs. price ratio on these things! :)

My tech used these as a cable replacement on my pl120 turn table he was pleased with the quality and I m pleased with the sound !

I use these and they work fine. I admit I haven't gone down the audiophile audio cable rabbit hole, so there are probably other high end cables that sound better (or at least different). But the quality of the Amazon cables is good, the connectors are solid, and they don't feel like junk.

I have a set of Amazon Basics RCA to 1/8” headphone jack cables to connect my phone/iPad into the stereo. They work just fine, and seem to be well constructed.

I also have a few Amazon basics phone charger cords and those seem to be pretty good as well.

That's some great info..Thanks for the review! I'll have to try some.

When it comes to musical instrument cables there's a lot of the same kind of over-priced craziness when it comes to high-end as there is in home audio..I use George L's, and the sound quality is outstanding! And they're designed so's that they don't need to be soldered..They're not cheap, but nothing like the stuff from Alessandro. Their top of the line 20' guitar cable is listed at $1,999.95. Too rich for my blood! I don't care how great they sound, $2000.00 for a jack cord is just ridiculous..o_O

Hysterical!

I’m very new to this forum but cables, speaker wire and fuses are topics which somehow I intuitively knew would be controversial.

After 40 years as a (here sadly I would have to say semi-qualified) audiophile, I’ve seen these topics inspire WAY too many arguments. I’ve even fallen prey to such arguments myself. In time (by around 30), I realized what someone else mentioned in a different thread…to each his own. If they’re happy with the sound, great.
I don’t have to listen to anyone else’s setup (and generally don’t) specifically because I tend to be a critical SOB and would most likely sit there hearing and wanting to knit-pick just the things I thought were screwed up. Particularly if I noticed any power cable induced noise.

I got some of the Amazon cables, I like them..They're obviously decent quality, and much better than the old stiff Radio Shack RCA cables I was using before. As far as sound quality, there's a difference there too, although to my tired old ears it's pretty subtle..And they're a lot more flexible than my old cables, I like that as well.

Yes, the Amazon cables may not be audiophile quality, but they are definitely a solid upgrade from the old red/white RCA cables, LOL! I've switched my entire setup over to them now! I like how soft and flexible they are...makes cable management super easy!

Cautiously venturing down this road as I have no intention to start an argument. Seen these things get pretty heated in the past even though the overall point is to get satisfying (to YOU) sound out of your system.

I know and some years ago switched to these cables because of all the reasons mentioned above, most particularly the pliability despite the quality isolation. I now use them for nearly all my interconnections to individual components (excepting my tuner, which I rarely use anymore anyway). I realize there are certainly better quality options out there, but balancing the price v. return on investment for the improvement in quality, I decided to go with these.
I find they’re sufficiently insulated and work quite well so long as I utilize proper cable management, keeping them well separated from my power inputs. They don’t seem to allow very much (if any) discernible (audible to me) induced noise into my system/setup.
I don’t use any commercially made cables for the outputs to my speakers though as I much prefer making my own. It’s my feeling that so long as I use the above mentioned cables, the outputs are now absolutely the most critical cables in my whole system.
I do still need to verify this with a spectrum analyzer that has the range to do so, thankfully I have one and the SECOND I believe I’ve heard the smallest amount of noise I will go through the lengthy process of disconnecting and checking.
Now that I’ve mentioned that it’ll now be hard to keep from convincing myself I’ve heard some…lol!

I made my own RCA cables using quality microphone cable such as Mogami and Klotz with Neutrick RCA plugs which involves a bit of soldering and sometimes drilling of the back of th RCA plugs as the Klotz cable is pretty thick. Tutorials on the web. These products are available from professional audio companies on the web. I also use Van Damme blue speaker cables which are also very good and cost effective.

I suppose the idea behind microphone cables is that they have to be well sheilded and are part of the input end of the music you may be listening to.

However I just like tinkering and music but don't want to spend too much on any one thing. I am not looking for absolutes. That is my motivation.

For anyone sweating the quality of interconnect/patch/speaker cables, take a look at the wiring on the other side of the connection inside the source/amp/speaker, etc.

If you are talking about replacing all the $2.00 Red & Blacks on old gear, yes the Basics are a better cable. Enjoy!

Yep, just look at all that whimpy Groneburg Cabling inside of an Odyssey Stratos Amp. I also got a pair of ICs made from the same cable when I bought mine.
