Amazon is prepping a high-fidelity music streaming service for a launch by year-end, according to a report from Music Business Worldwide — a site which also accurately reported Amazon’s recent launch of the free, ad-supported Amazon Music service for Echo device owners. As for the high-fidelity service, the plan is to charge around $15 per month for this “better than CD quality” offering — which could present a direct challenge to TIDAL.

Just read that and was gonna post!

They have a long way to go in negotiations but nice to have another competitor.

If Apple would just flip this switch we’d Have major inroads for lossless audio streaming.

I remember Spotify exploring this a while back. Would definitely be beneficial to have more companies go this route.

I agree. Not sure what they are waiting for? They want to tout SQ, so this is another inroad...on top of them being able to charge more.

Wow, thanks for the info. Another service offering lossless 24 bit content. I'm currently a Qobuz subscriber and am very interested at that price as I'm also a Prime member.

is available only to new subscribers to Amazon Music Unlimited.

WTF, Amazon? I'd love to kick the tires as an existing Unlimited subscriber of many years... Boo.

I did finally get their voice gadget for the car. Works MUCH better than the Roav Viva I had.

I only was with them for a month then I found Spotify then went to Tidal. I might be able to sneak in since it’s been a couple of yrs.

30-day free trial for existing subscribers. Adds $50/yr to annual $79 sub, or a total of $10.75 a month. Tidal is toast, Spotify and Apple Music have nothing (yet) to compare.

Unfortunately, Alexa voice control still starts compressed streaming, but they're working on it...

Will be interesting if Roon compatibility is in the works. Since I use Roon at home for all my audio via Qobuz

Is this the first domino to fall? Will be awesome once Spotify and Apple Music go lossless.

Also they have a Family Plan for "HD"!! that's a first isn't it?

That is what's keeping from going to Tidal or Qobuz. Their SQ is definitely better than Spotify but I need a family plan.

Also I will need an app to be developed for LMS before I switch. But this a good sign.
