Amazon is prepping a high-fidelity TIDAL competitor

The problem is in the Amazon tech. Pretty sure of that. I use a fire cube with HDMI out to a DAC that supports HDMI. Same issue.

I have been listening to Amazon Music Streaming service for about 3 months. They seem to have a large selection of music I like, and they show what the bitrate it is capable of playing IF you have the Equipment connected. I have listened to lots of Ultra HD at 24/44. About the only complaint is that it sometimes does not connect, trying to figure that out. could be my Wi-Fi but for the most part it sounds great. IMHO. Listening now to a new group called Chasing the Monsoon. Their 1st album, No Ordinary World, it is playing in HD.

Just updated app and noticed a significant difference in SQ between exclusive mode and non.
No numbers just my ears.:dunno:

The non-HiFi tier included with Amazon Prime now has access to the entire catalog of 100 million or so songs, in shuffle mode. Previously was limited to 2 million.

With or without ads for Prime members? I realize that's just basic streaming and not HiFi. I dropped their HiFi service over a year ago as it was too clunky and just using Spotify Premium Family and Qobuz.

Edit....found it. Ad free.

Been many months since I popped into this thread. I'm still using the HD tier of AMHD and it has been really great for me. Whether it's listening through DAC at high bit rate through my main system, or through buds and phone, it works very well these days and the music selection is lightyears beyond my needs. I run a lot of miles on road and trail and also like that I can download music to my phone OR my Garmin watch for listening offline. Hiccups have been fewer over time. A smashing deal IMO, even though I'm torn about adding more money to Bezos' billions.

I am still in Tidal world. And have HQ spotify through a family membership too. I have Tidal in my car, and like that I have all my playlists and saved albums and such in my interface when I log in.

Never did get into the Amazon thing much beyond a trial I did once. though we do have Prime.

Anyway, I stopped caring that much about which one, and just picked the one I use most. So, Tidal it is, most of the time.
