Hi everyone, I am hoping that someone here much smarter than I could help me out on a few questions. I am planning on building a clone of a Fisher SA-16 console amp. I have build a few amps from scratch before with the parts needed already known but I am having some doubts on this one. My first and most pressing question is the power transformer. What voltage for the main should I look for when looking to source out a new power transformer. I am thinking 400 volts with 6.3 for the heaters. I am thinking 400 volts should cover since the highest voltage reference after the power supply is 393 volts but I am not sure if I need to adjust the resistors values or if I am just overthinking this. I am planning on switching out the rectifier tubes for a full wave rectifier setup with diodes to simplify things and make the project easier on the wallet.
My second and third questions are more for curiosity sake. The schematic mentions PTO plugs in a few locations. What are these and why are they there? I have never seen them before on a tube amp schematic. Also, I was wondering what the purpose of the area of the schematic that I circled in red. It falls between the two channels of the amp and seems to interconnect them.
Thanks in advance for any help.
