Has anyone used or (even better) made templates for making workbench tools organizers using a laser cutter or a 3D printer? Things like this (just an example):
I was just wondering if this idea was technically possible and if there was anyone who would have an interest in making one of these,
What I envision is a modern accessory that would be universally compatible with any “fully automatic” turntable which adds drop spindle functionality...
I’m still a beginner at electronics repair and this estate-find Pioneer SX-1500T is the oldest unit I’ve worked on. I’ve ordered a recap kit and an LED bulb kit, and with the faceplate off for the bulb install, I want to restore the missing lettering around the Power/Speakers knob and bottom...
Hello, I have the chance to get these apparently really good speakers, but the seller is giving them for cheap because it arrived with one woofer missing. I'm a total newbie at DIYing speakers but I figured I could ask forums for some help.

So I imported a PD-5000 from Japan and before anyone says anything, yes I understand the inherent risk of shipping these components and it was sold as untested anyways so I expected it would have issues. I have also read the CD player diagnosing thread and I'm still a bit stuck The package...
So I imported a PD-5000 from Japan and before anyone says anything, yes I understand the inherent risk of shipping these components and it was sold as untested anyways so I expected it would have issues. The package arrived fine and well protected, however the unit itself did not have any of the...
So I'm still relatively new to working on these older amplifiers and such but I always want to make sure I get things done right. I've been working on and diagnosing an issue with a Pioneer M-90a I imported from Japan. Evidently the predrivers have failed and everything down the board is getting...
Hello all, hopefully this is in the right place.
I've recently rediscovered my CD collection and wanted the Hi-Fi "insert disc please play" experience but with my AirPlay speakers.
So I’ve been experimenting using a Raspberry Pi to send audio from CD or turntable to AirPlay speakers. I've...
So I've recently come into possession of an amplifier back plate from a Martin Logan Dynamo 800x and I think it would be a fun project to build my own subwoofer with it. However I'm relatively new to diy speakers and I'd love some recommendations for some woofers to drive with it. I've heard a...
Note: I’ve read through the thread “What test equipment should I use? What are you using?” before posting this. My goal here is not to duplicate it, but to share a clean, structured checklist aimed at beginners starting from scratch. I hope it can serve as a practical entry point, and I’d love...
I recently resurrected a Sony SCD-777ES that the original owner thought was a door stop/Boat Anchor. Had all the issues. Wouldn't read SACDs. Would sometimes read Redbook CDs. Would show no disc as an error. It would lock up and not open the door, requiring a power down and restart. The advice i...
I took an unfinished, 25-yr-old design from a stalled business and scaled it down for the Minimus 7.
It took me 2 weeks, from sitting down to get serious, to completion.
I Zilched the crossovers:
And came up with my own setup:
And it fits well in the enclosures:
The right and left...
Now, here is a curious thing.
Just when it seemed harder than ever to discover truly interesting hi-fi stuff at local thrift shops, I stumbled into something unique and fun and worth experimenting with.
Here's what I found.
A pair of unbranded, apparently bespoke speakers fabricated from 3/4"...
hi all first post here so please dont judge :)
So im trying to convert a motherboard failed yamaha avr to a power amp just by using its transformer, amp boards and speaker terminal board ?( dont know the name of this board) all advise comes in handy . First question can i connect line in signal...
So, I brought home a very charming pair of Realistic Minimus 4 speakers. Cabinets are in good shape - no beverage rings, a minor miracle - and drivers appear sound. I haven't pulled the drivers out to assess the insides, though.
I notice that the driver surrounds are pleated, fibrous paper, and...
Was gifted a Technics SH-8010 EQ by a coworker. Plugged it in on the bench and had power, and the switches on the front seem to work fine, everything lit up like it should. Tested on the bench from my PC with a 3.5mm to RCA into a pioneer Sx-780 I've been working on and had a good output, but...
These are the most beautiful and well made cabinets I have ever owned. The stripes are solid woods glued and planed, sides are mdf with a blonde flame veneer. Came with Tang Band 4 inch bamboo drivers. If these were scratch built they must have belonged to Norm Abrams......
Hello! I'm new to the forum but have been browsing for some time fixing up my parents old audio systems. I've come up with a fix for something I finally feel is worth mentioning.
The old school Pioneer PL-200 turntables from the late 70's/early 80's are evidently notorious for having the spring...
I had a go at building an HF-87 clone from scratch. Wound the output transformers from 3/4 stacks of microwave iron and 3d-printed nylon bobbins. Power transformer was wound from an old HIPOT transformer with another 3d-printed nylon bobbin. DIY walnut cabinet.

Have a great day, and TAPE IT EASY!
Hey All,
I thought I would share my progress as I build a sand box isolation platform that meets my significant others design requirements. Lol.
I have been consulting with Chat GPT on design aspects, which has been pretty cool as Chat drops scientific data such as material properties to...
