Amp Selector switch

Hello All,

I have two amps that I'd like to run to 1 set of (2) speakers and be able to switch between the two amps. As I use them for different purposes: Music vs. Movies/Sports.
Is there a switch made for this? I was thinking of using a 4 pole changeover switch or something like that.
Let me know your thoughts.

There is a thread on this and I've posted the schematic for the simplest way to do it that would allow you to use either amp with either pair of speakers, even simultaneously.

I like the look of this switch but it seems expensive for the purpose. Is there a drawback to using a toggle switch like posted above?

Shouldn't be but what would concern me is how resistant a home brew device is to cross connection of amplifier outputs which of course could potentially result in disastrous consequences. These units are designed specifically to safeguard against such an occurrence. Just make sure you know what you're doing.

A quality switch would be "break before make" and certainly easy enough to check this with a meter.

This looks quality and is pretty reasonably priced. Could be a winner

If you're talking about two amps, with the speakers going in the box and one coming out, use this JEC TC-616 in reverse. Break before make. $25.
