Amp Size for Bridge Rectifier – Denon DRA-300 Receiver Upgrade

Hi all,
I am doing some restoring on my Denon DRA-300.

The Denon uses two capacitors in its power circuit. One is 50V 6800uF and one is 5600uF. I have two 50V 12000 uF 20% left over from a previous project. The rectifier is a Shindengen S4VB 4 amp 200volt.


Now for my question/ concern. I realize that this is quite an increase in Capacitance so my question is if the 4 amp rectifier will be sufficient for the current surge at start up. There is a 4 amp fuse in the rectifier circuit also.

My options are: 1) Replace the rectifier with a higher amp model 6 or 8 amp. 2). Scape the larger capacitors and reorder ones closer to the original sizes an retain the original bridge rectifier.

Thoughts and recommendations welcome!

Now that is very interesting, the only equipment I've seen with different sized caps like that was semi-complementary cap coupled output. That pic looks way, way too clean to be old enough to be cap coupled!

Makes me think one was replaced before with whatever was available for some reason. I suspect the 5600uF is the actual original size, that's a 33 W/C amp.

I would stick with 5600 or 6800 uF, more than that is just taking up space. You may be stuck with 6800 if those are three or four pin caps, not many still available that directly fix that pin spacing any more.
 
Thanks for the info. This was my Dad's receiver from the 1980's and I don't every remember him having it serviced but who knows! Thanks again for your thoughts!
