Looking into purchasing some Wharfedale Lintons as part of my hifi setup, though I’m a bit torn with what integrated amplifier to use with them. I prefer something that has detail with punch and warmth. I’ve been considering a Yamaha A-S801 (which seems to be a perfect combo for many folks) but the hybrid Vincent Audio SV-236MK (which can drive the Lintons with 150W into 8 ohms) also seems very enticing. Has anyone ever paired the speakers with these amps? Do they synergize best with tubes or solid state?

I believe that the Lintons will do best with a solid-state integrated amp. The Lintons have good detail mixed with the standard Wharfedale laid back sound. They can struggle a bit with the fastest bass lines, but good solid-state power can help minimize that. I think that the Yamaha A-S801 would be a good choice. I'd also recommend getting the matching Linton speaker stands that are designed for them.

As I've gotten older, I find myself using the "loudness, or on my HK 730, the contour" setting. Pairing the Lintons with my HK 730 is a match made for me. No subwoofer needed. I liked them so much so that I bought the smaller Dentons for another HK and would still have them except a pair of Yamaha NS1000's came my way. Had to sell them to defray the cost.
I would spring for the Super Lintons now, if I could. That will probably happen in the next year or so.
Try Crutchfield, they have a nice return policy. You'll have to pay the freight, but if you don't like them, that is a small price to pay
So, I agree with @jayvis. An integrated amp like the Yamaha A-S801 should have no problem powering the Lintons, and more importantly, sound great doing it.
