There has been a lot of ADS discussion around here as of late with many of us finding models to try out. I've been fortunate to have come into a few that are talked about with affection by many so I thought I would line them up and take a photo to illustrate the scale and size range between them.

We see and understand dimensions but it's kinda funny, until you get some of these in hand you just don't realize just how big or small they are.

Nice collection! I recently picked up some L710's and have been enjoying them. My buddy has a pair of the 910's and they are incredible. One of the nicest looking speakers of all time IMO too, the proportions and design is just perfect to my eyes. Would love to hear some of the even bigger models some day.
 
Wow, that middle one sure is a porker, ah I mean it sure has a visual presence. I haven't done any family portraits but it would be nice if all the ads speakers I have had since starting this trip would be here for that. I have let the 420, 520, 570/2, 990 and 810M all get married off and the 300i and 320i will not come out of the garage to join the remaining 710 or 1590/2 for the picture.

I sure wish the 1590 was a dark walnut instead of what they used. Can't think that the rosewood would have been an option at the price I paid late last year.
 
Here's the L1290 sitting in front of a L710 stacked on a L520. ('bout time I take out the trash, eh ?) The stack is on a weighted pedestal...the L1290s will be on the pedestals before long.

We can see this thread, too. Sort of a time stamp.

they all look so good:eek2: especially the L710\910.

I hope I will get one of the ADS high models, this brand is so rare here.

I do got something "similar", but with Heco drivers, can anyone explain to me if there is connections between Heco and ADS?
 
Nice shot and good to post ... the first time I saw L1230s, they were MUCH smaller than I had thought they'd be. (Spinal Tap's Stonehenge came to mind ... maybe I got 1230 mixed up with 2030 in my head?)

The L1590's have become my primary speaker. They are exceptional and do the best in my lounge thus far. Richard So recently rebuilt the tweeters and mids. I will refinish the cabinets at some point and I agree that Rosewood would be special in these. Would like to see the 810 and how it compares in size between the 910 and 710.

Monitor Audio LTD,
Model MA 3 IIs
100w, 8ohms, 10watts for 94db @ 1 meter.

They are working very well with my MC275s mono blocked @ 180 WPC, Highly detailed British studio monitors from the late 70s early 80s I think. They are giving me the high detail like a lot of high end new speakers, but with the efficiency of old school. Win Win

This here might be the end configuration.

What are your impressions of the L1230's so far? You have a very nice collection there.

This is a great reference for size comparison. The L710's are a lot smaller than I expected.

I like the L1230s and right now their setup like above by themselves with the MC402 driving them @ 400 WPC. I like the MA 3 IIs best with the tubes, the L250s with the MC 501s. The ML Sequel IIs work really well with the 402 but can tend to be a bit bright, the L1230 seem to be solid with deep bass, maybe even to much. So it takes me time to make a judgement and accumulate to a speaker/sound and they have only been run a couple days now. .

I know JBL probably had a good reason ... But the 250ti cabinet looks so ugly and difficult to fit into a room to me ... Still would happily own a pair though :)

If I were the designer and had to keep the slanted tower design ... Why not put the slope from the backside of the speaker so that the front is a more interior design friendly box
 
Absolutely love my 1530's. Richard So did an awesome job on all the drivers. Don't think I'll be getting rid of them for a long while.
