Think i like infinity speakers?

You bet i do...now i dont have any of the higher end models. But tthe detail given is excellent, With the RS7.

Each speaker has its own strengths and weeknesses.

First pair i got were RSa, The next pair were another RSa. Then comes along the RS7. Latest one to be refoamed, due to a broken off push in connector. I gave it a temp fix with some rubberized foam. Then one day i saw a Infinity badge for sale and as a bonus there were a pair of RSe attached. Cool deal, i needed a badge for one of my RSa as one didnt have a badge(big bummer).

With the RSe i was given more detailed mids over the RSa...I enjoyed them immensly. What i liked about the RSa is the bass output and power handling at those freqs. As well as a neutral midrange. And excellent highs thanks to the emit.
Then finally i decided to refoam the RS7....What have i been thinking of when i put the refoam off for so long. Being afforded the extra midrange of these, My GF commented that on hearing speech she could hear the tongue clucking and clicking , for lack of a better word.

Currently listening to jazz via cable network. I need to try them with cd and vinyl. But that will come later.

How about any of you? do you have an Affinity for Infinity. Other words do you love infinity that you buy them at first sight.

I was a big fan of the infinity's, still am to some degree. They made some nice speakers and then some not so good like the sm and sterling series. I currently own the entra series and some primus. Not bad speakers for what they are and the decent prices I paid for them. I remember listening to some kappa's many many years ago and fell in love with them. I kinda like my klipsch more. :D
 
right now im wishing i had a much bigger place. Id like to try a minimalist system to where i have just the speakers and sub and a power and preamp, not counting sources. Currently that is not possible as i live in a 2 bedroom apartment, which just over half of it is living room and in one end of it is the kitchen.
Rite now im using the RS7 connected to One of my M&K subs. Sounds more balanced then when using the RSe in the same setup.
Bass is better defined as well as the mids(as expected) and its my first somarium cabalt emit. Which i heard has a stronger magnet...all drivers functional. Tho i still need to clean the pots on the cross over.

Sell all of your speakers and get one really good pair. That's what I did. You won't be sorry.
 
I've had a couple of 8" three ways with the EMIT R tweeters. I can't remember the models, but they were two different models with the same drivers. I've also had a couple of center channels and a sub, don't know the models, and a couple of 8" two ways, the 1500 and the Qe. None of them were terribly impressive.

I have a pair of RS IIs. They're terribly impressive!
 
thanks for your view point on Infinity, stereofanboy.

With the 8 inch woofer being what they are, i dont expect much bass to come out of them. Thats why i have my eight inch models hooked up with a sub.

What i find with the # way RS7 is that im given much more detail...possibly surpassing the Paradigm model 9 V.3 Which is no slouch of a speaker and much bigger with bigger magnets. All you have to do is look in my sig. to see a pic of the naked woofer.

What i first noticed about the RS7 was that they had more mid bass definition thean the RSe...which in turn. Has more midrange definition then the RSa. Which by the way has very good bass. Plays down to 30 hurtz with athoritay(remember south park).


for a while ive thought about building a large speaker, or a pair of subs using both pairs of RSa woofers in a pair tranny line sub and using the rest in a seperate cab for the mid bass and the highs.

Might be a very interesting project if given the proper resources which i dont have and the time to do it.

Line array tweets and a couple lower midsRSe and RS7) and the upper mids with the RS7 mid driver.
Enough dreaming already.
 
A pair of Infinity RS 2.5's, a pair of the WTLC's, a pair of RS III(b)'s and an Infinity center channel. Yes, I do like Infinity speakers.
 
sounds like a nice line up...One day i will run into apair of upper crust infinitys and till then ill continue to use what i Unless during some year i can finally build speaker systems with what i have. Which i hope to be able to one year...I like infinitys with emit tweeters.

thebadone, forgive my ignorance but what are the speakers in your setup photos? do i notice altecs?

Yes Altecs, they're the ones that sound the best to my ears :yes:
 
yeppers i do...as well as a pair of their subs. both nearly matching. same design and size just different model numbers.
 
Me to. Infinity, ADS, B&W are my favorites. I have a pair of SM-82s I rebuilt now serving as the fronts for my surround sound system. Great speakers, love the tight response. I'm currently refurbishing a pair of RS-4000s right now. Spent the afternoon preping the woofer and mid for new surrounds.

Problem with this pair is the tweets are different. One is a EMIT K, the other a later (and slightly smaller) EMIT 2645. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to find another K because the smaller 2645 won't cover the cutout for the K.

If anyone got an extra K laying around, see my add in the speaker parts swap.
