They are Belton gold pins. No idea where they are made but they are the opposite of loose. Thought I was going to break the glass pushing the 12AY7s in!

By all accounts, Belton produces excellent new production sockets. I wasn't aware they were making gold contacts. Belton is located in S. Korea, which like Taiwan, produces tools and components far above the quality available from China.

Got them at Tubedepot.
Like I said, they are tight going in and coming out. Felt like I was forcing the drivers in and didn't want to push too hard. To be honest, I don't know if they are worth the extra cost, even if they are kinda cheap. I think the ceramic type is fine.

I already put in some Mundorf but decided to go one step further:
The lead are the same so I'm assuming there is no recommended way to install. I did read something about end foil towards the source or something, but no way to tell here?
I read good stuff about the Miflex too but it seems Duelund is the bees knees!

Wow! Well, a friend with the best system I've heard to date, who builds his own amps and phono stages, swears by Duelund and will use nothing else. Maybe I'll have to try them sometime in my preamp...when funds permit!

How is that SP14? Been eyeballin it some. You build the kit?
I love my SP14. I ordered the assembled board and mounted it on a Delrin platter with an oak base. It's a bit cobbled together, I really should rebuild it, but I love it. I added film caps in the power supply, a Khozmo ladder attenuator for the main volume control and some Duelund wire for the ins and outs. It's much quicker, more natural and more transparent than my Cary SLP-98, which I only use for the phono stage now.

I may take a look at that later, maybe next year. I just recapped my old pre. Maybe the SP13?

The last thing I might do is take out the potentiometer; less things in the signal path the better! Unless I go straight from my phono stage in the amp...still thinking on that. I rarely do CDs anymore but while the Darlington Labs was out I did go and listen to some. They did sound awesome with the Legendarium!
I'll let the Duelunds burn in some and report any changes. Right now, I think they put a handle on the bass some, and well they are very detailed!
This amplifier is freakin awesome!
I've never heard the SP13, maybe it sounds very good, but I vastly prefer 6SN7s over 12AU7s. Hard to beat that price, though.

I go take a look, I thought the 13 was same as the 14 without the remote and display? Anyways, maybe next year's tax returns.
It's the same basic circuit (Aikido) but with 12AU7s and a less sophisticated power supply.

One week with the Duelunds.
Been trying to play as much as I can; I've read that it takes like 100 hours or so to break in.
Put on reference today just to check.
Cymbals, hi hat, crash, rides are more natural and up more up front now. Crashes have a natural sounding decay, hi hat is no longer in the background. Bass is more articulated and tight. I can hear what's going on at the strings, not just a bass note. I was getting a mid bass drop off but that's improved.
More dynamic overall. Percussion instruments are popping up from the background. Snare is now like front center.
I wouldn't call it a dramatic change, but it is kinda dramatic.
Sort of makes me a bit sad, thinking of all those years I listened to my system in ignorant bliss; sitting there thinking I was getting the most out of the music when now it seems like I was only touching the surface.
The Legendarium was great sounding when I got it, now it's like really great sounding. Not sure how far off I am from reference, but feels like I'm getting there.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm considering building a 2A3 amp. @theflattire are you still using and enjoying the Legendarium? I'm very tempted to take a crack at it. Looks great.

I built the Legendarium 2A3 and Exordium EL84 amps earlier this year. Probably have listened to the Legendarium more than any of my other tube amps since. Just a guess though. Still a happy customer. Have nearly bought the AE1-C EL34 kit a time or two, but don't really need another EL34 amp, just enjoy building them.

I am considering a Legendarium kit, finances dependent. I was looking at another Elekit (I have a fully upgraded TU-8200R), but have decided on the Legendarium. My plan is to build it as a 45 amp, rather than 2A3. I emailed with Perry a couple of months ago and he said this is an easy modification. He said his 2A3 topology is based on a 45 topology.
This is an old thread but looking at that cap on the bottom I would have thought by having a bold black line like that the cap might be polarized and that bold line is the negative side of the cap.
