And Then There Were Two

Very small correction, Monsieur Cochon. The WT Reference plinth was made from Fountainhead, not Corian. Both of these brands are super-dense "solid surface" material made primarily for countertops and such. Dupont's Corian has become the generic name for all of these, the way we say Kleenex or Soctch Tape, but is one of many different brands. Corian is acrylic, mixed with coloring agents and (oftentimes) bits of natural mineral particles. Fountainhead was a blend of polyester and acrylic, plus the colorants and mineral particles. I just did a quick search and I'm not sure Fountainhead is being made at this time. When the WTR came out, Fountainhead was chosen for its particular properties (which could have been acoustic, ease of workability in the shop, price, or all three). Happy you found your Scheu and that the WTR has a new and appreciative home. My square-motor original Well Tempered Turntable plays on effortlessy and continues to please and impress — I've had it since 1990!
Yeah I was being lazy calling it Corian. That's what it looks and feels like. It's a superb table, I really enjoyed my time with it.

Made me laugh... you have more high end turntables then most on these forums. Always a tough decision to sell something you become attached to but you can only play one at a time. Congrats on the sale. The Scheu and Dynavector are quite the drool worthy combination. Visually in another league from the Sota.
Still , looks seems to be subjective though. I never had the chance or luck to listen to one, but I've always liked the classic looks of the SOTA. Somehow it manages to look both "simple" and serious to me.

I am just a humble farm animal. I don't have the resources for a Tech Das or one of the higher tier Triangle. The Scheu came off the used market and cost me 30 cents on the dollar, otherwise I would not be owning it either. Sure I have a couple of nice tables, but I am 55 years old and this is the accumulation of me saving, buying, saving some more, selling, and then buying again.....then repeat the process. Its certainly not where I started out. When I came back to vinyl in the late 1990s my first table back was a Microseiki DDX 1000 I bought for $200. Wish I had that one back to sell again. But I sold it for what it cost me for a Well Tempered Record Player, which got sold for an early generation Teres Audio....and so on.
