How about $50?:D

There is a whole range of cable products from given away with a device to as much as you want to spend. Obviously you don't want to spend a lot (relatively) on cables so why choose $500 as a figure?:scratch2:

Although I firmly believe that cables make an audible difference there is no specific price point that determines great sound.

FWIW: I use a combination of DH Labs BL-1 and Air Matrix interconnects and Q-10 Signature speaker cable. The Air Matrix are $295 per meter. IMO they compare quite favorably with ICs that cost 3X their price. I use the BL-1 for the gear I have that uses balanced connections.

If you're trying to economize, Blue Jeans makes some very well regarded (especially around here) ICs and speaker cables. They are all very reasonably priced.

So...

Depending on your equipment, it wont matter. But if that is a 2K cassette deck, I would treat it a little better.

You do most often get what you pay for. And those are made in china Monster knock offs...

You dont need to spend $500 on cables. I have blue jean cables, $30 meter pair, Kimber hero's $200 meter pair and kimber silver streaks, $400 meter pair. the Blue jeans will give you 90% of the silver streaks and in some connections in the system (like pre to amp) I actually prefer them to the silver streaks. I use the silver streaks from source to preamp then the blue jeans and heros in the rest of the system, and yes I do have some silver streaks in a drawer not in use because the cheaper cables sound better.( in certain connections)

I'd go for something like the BJC, $30 will get you a very nice cable.

Well, there are fake Monster cables, Kimber cables and various other rip offs out there. That doesn't make them or AQ off limits, does it?

Where a piece of gear or cable is made has little to do with it's physical or audio quality.

Several responders have tried to point out that price is not necessarily indicative of quality. Are you just wanting justification for your original selection? If so only you can decide if said cable is adequate for your use.

More than one poster has suggested Blue Jeans cables as an inexpensive choice. What more do you want?

What would make you think Audioquest, Kimber, Blue Jeans, DH Labs or any other US based manufacturer doesn't take pride in their product?

I have one cable from 8 Audio (China) that is as good as anything I've seen or heard at up to $1000. It cost me $35 plus shipping. See pictures below.

This cable also has locking RCA plugs.

Cuz the U.S. isnt what it used to be like in the 50's and 60's. They used to take pride, not anymore. Just watch Ricks restoration tv show. His opening statement to his tv show is (remember when Americans took pride in what they built)

Have you taken the time to actually investigate any of the brands I or other posters have suggested?

Who the hell is Rick and why should I listen to anything he has to say?

You are obviously unaware that some of the finest audio equipment known to man is American made. Look into, Audio Research, Conrad Johnson, Vacuum Tube Logic, Pass Labs etc. You could even look to Canada for brands such as Bryston and Magnum Dynalab. There has to be a reason why more than 50% of McIntosh's (US made)production goes directly to Japan

I strongly suggest you do a little research beyond whatever crap "Rick" is spouting.
