I just love the look of the old Sansui speakers and I'm enjoying the sound of my new 3500s as well. I may hook them up to my T amp tomorrow. I hadn't even thought about that.

WOW that port really is obnoxious! PM does alot of air move through there, or is it to big to really notice? Almost changes the design to an open baffle! Cool looking speaker, anyway... with that wooden lattice you dont seet that tunnel through the front....:D

How much power do you think it will take the drive the things? They are huge, efficiency regardless, the drivers have to move a rediculously large mass with speakers that big.

Mass, schmass. They're 104 db efficient, just like my La Scalas which I run with a 4.8 watt Almarro A205A tube amp and have NEVER turned up past the 11:00 mark !! That T-amp could run them loud enough for John Law to come a knockin'

BTW, didn't Sansui call their mids "squawkers"?? I always found that funny as all get out.

Clarence,

I was surprised. You can REALLY FEEL the air moving out of that port. These things were horribly dusty behind the grill, but not a spec of dust made it through that port.

On the back of the speakers there is an Engrish warning about not running the speakers if the "lid" has been removed.

Interesting.... I assume the woofer is pretty high excursion then? Have you poured the 50 WPC power into em yet, or is the mini might enough? Sounds like a speaker I might like!:thmbsp:

They're sitting in the kitchen in that photo. With the T-Amp running at about 11 o'clock, all the pots inside the cabinet on the opposite wall were rattling. I'm not kidding, and that was just Bill Evans!

Even though they need new caps, I put 'em "in system" today.

I could live with these (and they match my "hi-fi cradenza" very well).

SWMBO'd is away on "Grandmother" for a few days. I wonder how log it will take her notice the change in the living room?
