Another identify this speaker post :-)

Hi all,
I found this in a Goodwill here in Portland. It’s an ophan, but was cheap and I couldn’t resist the mystery.

No markings at all.
Very well built, even down to the 10ga wire used.

Can be bi-amped.

Drivers have no markings either.

Any ideas?

I think you're right but then some of the Goodwill stores here in Portland look a lot like that as well.

Those Infinitys are mine. Those actually came from FaceBook marketplace.
Just need a nice Refoam when I get time.

Looks sort of like a vandersteen 2c, but it isn't. Maybe some other model?

the woofer. the crossover. the construction of the cabinet. any numbers or other identifiers. pretty much everything.

They remind me of Merlin speakers. They use Morel drivers..... Nice find...

There are no markings at all that I can find on the speaker itself or the drivers.

The only crossover is attached to the tweeter.

The port pictured is through the bottom of the compartment that holds the woofer.

That hole in the dustcover looks to be intentional, it’s sharply and evenly cut, not torn.

Looks like a Vifa woofer. With the Morel and cabinet effort some effort went into them.

How do they sound?

I don't think they're Merlins; earlier ones had a more open mounting for the tweeters.

That felt stuff is weird. The only place you see that all over a cabinet is those Rent-A-Center boom-boom systems. Which this is obviously not. I vote home brew too.

Interesting that all the stickers have been removed from the drivers, if they were home made why would anyone do that?
