Nobody special.
Can anyone I.D. these speaks? The tweeters look like ADS to me but I don't remember having seen any ADS cabs that look like this. Can anyone help?:scratch2:

They look like ADS cabinets as well. A friend of mine has a pair of similar ones. But I can not recall the model number. Sorry, I wasn't of more help.
Soundmotor or delihaus will be along shorlty, though, I'm sure.
Have you tried looking thorough the ADS reference sticky?

I think they might be Jennings Contraras. They don't look like ADS to me.

Any help would be appreciated. I have an oppotunity to buy them tomorrow but the guy has no idea what brand of speakers they are. They look pretty quality to me but who knows??? He said they sound amazing. Are Jennings good speakers? I've never heard of them.

I think your right Nat. After some research they do look like Jennings Contraras. Have you heard these before? Not alot of reliable listening reviews on the search I did.

I remember liking some I heard in the 70s, but nothing about the specific model. I believe the company was started by a higher up at JBL. and their speakers had a good reputation, but its a real tough business, and they faded after a number of years.

Well, I was curious enough to see if I had any old reviews, and in a 1977 Complete Buyer's guide to Stereo/Hi-Fi Equipment, there it is: a Contrara P. P standing for pedestal, aparently made so it can be pivoted to show the grill or the wood veneer back. They describe it (in speaker mode rather than pedestal mode) as 'a very good sounding speaker, offering smooth response and clean highs'. Certainly the Peerless tweeter is a nice one, and the raised baffle suggests some care about difraction effects.
Hope you get them and report on how they sound.

I think they might be Jennings Contraras.
Bingo!

Been a quad of them on that auction site for several weeks now.

FWIW, i highly covet and seek "vector ones".............. it's like they disappeared with the dinosaurs.

they look very nice but from the pictures it it looks like the glue surround was used a little excess could just be the shadow of the light or the cones
