Hello All,
I have a Pioneer PL-50 Turntable, the original, not the 80's reissue... As I was trying to align my cartridge, for the millionth time last night, I decided to "float" the tonearm, and try something I haven't tried messing with... The "Anti-Bias," this could also be referred to as the Anti-Skate dial. I gave it a quick turn up to the max, (3) to make sure it still worked, and sure enough, it went right back to the tonearm rest... After trying a new combination, and still finding the same stupid distortion as before, I decided to re-float the tonearm, and give the dial another twist... Nothing Happened... No matter which way I turn it, it does not return to the rest anymore. To sum it up... The Anti-Bias broke. Now, how can I fix this? Should I just take it to a professional, or is it an easy fix? Now, the record skips infinitely at the end, so I cannot just ignore the problem... I've attached a picture of the counterweight and anti-bias area...
I appreciate any help, you guys always seem to get me out when I'm in a pinch...
Thanks,
Brandon
